Milestone
Brilliant day at the IPL with a closely fought game and a one-sided affair in which Sunrisers Hyderabad thumped Punjab Kings by 8 wickets. That's it for the day, Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentators AkshayaKrishna Polya and Arijit Kundu and scorer Paras Yadav. Stay tuned for more cricketing extravaganza from around the globe.
Shikhar Dhawan: "Yeah, it was a special innings but didn't really expect to be there till the end of the innings. I just kept batting according to the situation. I hope, you (Harsha Bhogle) might be happy with my strike rate (smiles). I remember that tweet off you (smiles again). It was a bit tricky track to bat on. We thought a bit differently about the pitch and it did play quite differently. Overall I am grateful for 99. Yes, it did give me a good satisfaction. I batted accordingly and scored odd boundaries when they were there to put away. Thanks, Harshy bhai (Harsh Bhogle)."
Player of the Match: Shikhar Dhawan
Aiden Markram (Sunrisers Hyderabad Captain): "Yeah, it was special, thanks, Harsha. Bit of a rough start but great to win our first home game. Yeah, not too much panic, as likely said, it is just the start of the season. It is about how to express freely and giving the confidence to the players.

It is not a nice [on dropping Adil Rashid] move to make but I am super happy for Mayank. He took his chance and luckily, it is a start of a great competition for him.

Yeah, I think it is the latter. We know his [Rahul Tripathi] ability and that's what we keep telling him, to express himself and get better and better. I think it is very easy to get on when you have a guy like Rahul on the other end. Yeah, it's just the first win Harsha, but not looking too much beyond. We have got some outstanding staff with us who are working very hard. Hopefully, we keep on with the momentum."
Active Catch of the Match: Sam Curran
Longest Six Hit in the Match: Rahul Tripathi (94m)
Most Fours Hit in the Match: Shikhar Dhawan

11:13 PM IST | Time for the post-match presentations...
Mayank Markande (Sunrisers Hyderabad): "I enjoyed a lot. Team management backed me and gave me the opportunity so feeling good. I bowled slow, my role is to bowl in the middle overs. So I backed myself and bowled slow and it worked for me today.

After the impact player rule, you are always in the mix and have to prepare. I speak a lot with Adil Rashid and that has helped me a lot.

I have worked a lot in my bowling. Aavishkar Salvi was there with me in the red ball season. My googly has become effective.

I rate this performance very high as I am happy the team won. I want to contribute more to the team in further games."
Shikhar Dhawan (Punjab Kings Captain): "Yeah, very happy with my knock but as a batting unit we lost too many wickets, couldn't put up a big total and that is why we lost the game. Yeah, 175-180 would have been a reasonable score. The wicket was good but it was swinging and seaming at the start and failed to tackle it, therefore fell shot. There is a lot of learning as a team for us. We will analyze the things where we went wrong and come back strong.

Yeah, I am enjoying the captaincy, we have a good bunch of boys and taking it day by day. What changes?...[fails to hear]. With so much of experience, [on pressure of captaincy] I know how to go about and know my plan."
10:58 PM IST | A terrific performance with the ball, a gritty knock from Rahul and his partnership with skipper Aiden Markram has given the Sunrisers Hyderabad their first win in 3 attempts in this season as they beat the Punjab Kings at home by 8 wickets.

Sunrisers won the toss and elected to bowl first with Bhuvneshwar Kumar getting a wicket on the very first ball of the match. Marco Jansen was on fire on his first involvement in the season and picked up 2 quick wickets in the powerplay finishing with 3-1-16-2.

Mayank Markande also playing in his first fixture of the season bowled at his best and finished with 4/15 with speed king Umran Malik getting 2 wickets. Punjab captain Shikhar Dhawan was the lone hero with the bat and carried his bat in the IPL for the umpteenth time with 99 off 66 balls. Only Sam Curran scored in double figures hitting 22 off 15. The Kings finished their innings at 143/9.

Arshdeep Singh bowled beautifully to dismantle Harry Brook's stumps who was promoted to open the batting tonight. Mayank Agarwal got a start and was dismissed for 21 when the team score was 45 in the 9th over. Markram then joined Tripathi who was batting at number 3 and the duo added unbeaten 100 runs to take the team home.

Tripathi scored the first fifty for SRH in this season and played beautifully in all the areas of the ground with his late cuts, slog sweeps, and drives finding the middle of the bat more often than not. Markram hit 6 boundaries with 4 of them coming in the 17th over as Hyderabad hovered around the victory.

There was nothing of notice from the Punjab Kings bowlers besides the 2 wickets from Arshdeep and Rahul Chahar respectively. Sam Curran bowled a tidy spell upfront but that effort was not enough as Tripathi (74*) and Markram (37*) made sure the game was over on the first ball of the 18th over.
17.1 H Brar to R Tripathi
4 FOURRR!!!! That is the final shot of the match. Brar comes back into the attack from around the wicket. Slower through the air, on a length and outside the off. Tripathi backs away and creates room for the cut through the point region for a boundary. The sweeper cover fielder runs across but fails to stop it from going through the fence. Easily done by Rahul Tripathi as he brings up the 100-run partnership between himself and Markram. With this, it's all over for PBKS tonight as SRH win by 8 wickets and put their first points on the board.

Four boundaries off this over. The partnership is a four short of reaching the 100 runs milestone mark. And SRH needs 3 runs to win from 3 overs.
16.6 N Ellis to A Markram
4 FOUR MORE! Hattrick of boundaries from Markram has out SRH on the brink of their first victory this season. Good length delivery on the stumps. Markram just checks his lofted drive and chips it over the head of the bowler for a four. No chance for the man running to his left from long-on.
Arijit: Well, the skipper is in a hurry it seems.
