That's it from a magnificent game of cricket as CSK get to their first win of the season owing to an allround performance. Ninaad Dixit here taking your leave on behalf of my co-commentators Akshay Bhide, Akshaya Krishna and scorer Paras Yadav. Stay tuned for more cricket extravaganza from around the world.
Moeen Ali (Player of the Match): "It's a tough one because they have some big hitters. I just tried to hit the right areas and spin the ball. You don't want to get against these guys but the partnership with Santner worked tonight and really happy to finish on the winning side.

MS knows what he is doing. He knows when to bowl guys. I probably wouldn't have bowled in the last game. If you hold your lengths against the right-handers, you will get the rewards as it was a bigger side in the leg side. I don't think I'll be bowling all the time as there is Jadeja as well but happy to chip in when required."

MS Dhoni (CSK Captain): "It was a terrific game, high scoring game. All of us were thinking how the wicket will be, that was the question. But we have been practicing here from quite some time so we had that doubt. It was a high scoring game, the opposition also scored runs. So overall I feel its a perfect first game that could have happened. Not to forget, its maybe our first full house game in the last 5-6 years we have played in, at home.

I thought it will be much slower. I feel it was a wicket where you could score runs. It got a bit slower but even if you see the second innings, they were able to play the big shots so I was quite surprised with the wicket. You have to see the next 6 home games we will play whether game after game we can come up with a wicket like this. That will be crucial to see.

Its a fast bowling that needs to slightly improve. They need to bowl according to condition. Even if its on the flatter side, have fielders and try to bowl in the areas where you are pushing the batter to hit over the fielder. Specially what's important is to keep an eye. When we are batting you have to keep an eye on what the opposition bowlers are doing so it gives you an idea of what can be done. What can be my plan according to what strength I have or the pace I have. They have to bowl maybe no no balls and less wides. We are bowling too many extra deliveries. Or they will have to be ready to play under a new captain at some point of time. It will be my second warning and I'll be off.

Whenever its a high-scoring game, its important to get the most. The only reason you have scored those many reason is because the surface is nice. Even if the opposition have not bowled at their best still we'll score 180 runs that is a very nice score. But if you have scored 200 which means the wicket is on the better side and at that time usually its one hit or two hits that really matter at the end of the game so I felt the more we could get the better it is."

Mitchell Santner (Chennai Super Kings)"Yeah, it was obviously a pretty good wicket for batting. You see the powerplay scores of both sides, it's pretty evident. Yes, the pacers went for runs, but there was some help for the slow bowlers. It was Moeen Ali who was getting the wickets. It was nice to see him do that. I tried to tighten up at the other end. With the boundary dimensions, you need to be bowling to the bigger boundary. I am used to this playing in New Zealand of blocking a side up.

I guess that is out of my control (on asking what if the rest of the overseas players join the squad). Whenever I get the privilege to play, I will be giving my best. You play home and away games, so you always need to defend your backyard. Yeah, the last time I was here, a few stands were shut down. But it's nice to be back with a full crowd. I enjoyed bowling here back in 2019. Cheers guys, thank you"
KL Rahul (Lucknow Super Giants Skipper): "Obviously not the most ideal start after putting them to bat first. There was something in it for the fast bowlers. We didn't hit the right areas and allowed them to get going. They will certainly make you pay. We bowled poorly and also Rutu and Conway played exceptionally well.

It does take time to what a good pace and length are to bowl. I can't really point out one thing. We made good use of the powerplay but didn't win the phases and that led to our loss. Kyle is coming out with the good form. I was watching some international games and he was smoking balls for West Indies. It's great to see what he has done with the opportunity he has got. Bish puts his hands up when things are going against you.

I still think bowling first was the right option and as I said, we failed to win a few phases in the game. That cost us the game. We had four batters going out on the boundary and if it had cleared the ropes, we would have finished on the winning side. It's about the small margins."

11:32 PM IST: The Chennai Super Kings beat LSG by 12 runs. A phenomenal game swinging like a pendulum comes to an end as Chennai Super Kings have their first points on the table after clinching a well fought victory against the Lucknow Super Giants on home soil.

KL Rahul called it right at the toss and decided to have a total in front to chase. The CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway provided the home side with a great start adding 110 runs in 9 overs. Gaikwad brought up another half century scoring 57 in 31 balls with Conway scoring 47 in 29 balls.

This was the first ever 100+ partnership against LSG by any franchise. Shivam Dube was promoted at number 3 and smoked 3 huge sixes to score 27 in 16 balls adding 32 runs for the third wicket with Moeen Ali (19 off 13). Ben Stokes failed to make an impact with the bat but Ambati Rayudu played the finisher's role to good effect hitting an unbeaten 27 off 14 balls with 2 fours and 2 magnificent sixes. 1 which he hit charging down the ground against the pace of Mark Wood was probably the shot of the day.

Skipper MS Dhoni batting at number 8 stole the limelight hitting 2 sixes on his first 2 balls but perished on the third ball mistiming the stroke as CSK finished at 217/7. Ravi Bishnoi (3/28) and Mark Wood (3/49) were the key wicket takers for LSG with Avesh Khan getting one wicket.

Chasing a steep total, LSG also got off to a flier thanks to Kyle Mayers who hit a quickfire half century but was out in the final over of the powerplay scoring 53 in 22 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes doubling on a good bowling performance (0/16 in 2) in the first innings. KL Rahul started cautiously but was dismissed for 20 in 18 balls.

Moeen Ali got the first breakthrough for CSK in the sixth over sending Mayers back with Mitchell Santner getting rid of Deepak Hooda in the very next over. Wickets fell in a heap for LSG as Rahul, Krunal Pandya (9) and Marcus Stoinis (21) departed falling against the spin of Moeen who turned the game on its head finishing with 4/26.

Santner was brilliant with his variations in lines and length and ended the spell with 1/21. The pacers struggled against the batters with Deepak Chahar getting hit for 55 in his 4. Ben Stokes conceded 18 in his first over same as the impact player Tushar Deshpande but the latter redeemed himself with Nicholas Pooran's wicket who scored 32 in 18 balls adding 25 with Stoinis and 26 with the impact player Ayush Badoni.

Deshpande conceded just 13 runs and took the prized wicket in his second spell of 2 overs. With 62 needed of the 4 overs, Badoni and Gowtham built a mini partnership playing cautiously and brought the equation to 37 off 12.

Hangargekar who had bowled a solitary over for just 15 runs was assigned the job to bowl the penultimate over and conceded just 9 runs, bowling 3 wides and bringing the equation down to 28 runs for Tushar Deshpande to defend who bowled 11 balls to finish his first over conceding 18, bowled a terrific final over finishing with 2/45, CSK winning a tense encounter in the final over!

6 SIXXX!!! Despite this biggie, LSG fall short of the big target set by CSK. Back of a length on the middle stump line. Wood backs away and makes room to slash it flat and over deep covers for a maximum. With the six, LSG cross 200 but CSK win the game by 12 runs and these 12 runs are off MS DHONI!
19.5 T Deshpande to M Wood
4 FOURRR!!! A little too late for LSG! Fuller-length delivery around the off-stump. Wood makes room and plays a lovely lofted extra covers drive for a boundary to get off the mark.
