So we come to the end of the coverage. Gujarat Titans kick off the glitterati event with a win. They continue from where they ended in the previous edition. The Titans win by five wickets and four balls to spare.

So, this is me, Arijit Kundu signing off alongside co-commentator AkshayaKrishna Polya and scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. Hope to catch you for all the other extravaganzas from IPL. TATA and GOOD BYE!!
Rashid Khan (Player of the Match): "First of all, thanks to almighty Allah. This crucial man of the match award gives you a lot of confidence. I try my best for all the three formats, try to give my 100 percent every time and it's great to help the side to a win.

It was hard to the leftie, but the plan was to keep it more tight. The two crucial wickets gave us momentum. I had it at the back of my mind to get those wickets. Those two are very dangerous batters [Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes]. Moeen tried to go over the square leg but I tried to keep the line and length tight as I desired. More the time you be in the nets, more the better result you get. Thanks to the time I spend with the coaching staffs and the confidence that Hardik gave.
They give me more batting sessions in the net as well and that's what helps me get better "
Player of the Match: Rashid Khan
Hardik Pandya (Gujarat Titans Captain): "Yeah, I mean, it was a brilliant performance. But we did put ourselves in a fix with Rashid and Rahul getting us over the line. At one stage, they were cruising towards 200, but we bowled really well to restrict them under the big total.

It becomes difficult for me (Pandya) to pick the correct players when you have the new impact player rule. But Alzarri and others bowled well to restrict CSK. I realised that bowling hard lengths was the way to go here and hence I asked Alzarri to bowl late in the innings.

Rashid Khan as always was brilliant with both bat and ball. I mean he is a fantastic player under pressure, he delivers. He is a real asset to the team. He will give you wickets and some runs late down the order.

See, Shubman's and my shot selections weren't right that time and we got out. We needed to bat well and take the game deep and finish the job so that we don't put massive responsibility for the players coming down the order."
Active Catch of the Match: Mitchell Santner
Longest Six of the Match (97m): Shivam Dube
Most Fours of the Match: Shubman Gill
Most Valuable Player of the Match: Ruturaj Gaikwad
Game Changer of the Match: Ruturaj Gaikwad
Electric Striker of the Match: Ruturaj Gaikwad
11:54 PM IST | Time for post-match presentations...
Only two teams in the entire IPL have defeated CSK in their first three meetings. GT did it tonight, while the other team to do it was Rajasthan Royals back in 2008.
GT has won 9 of the 10 matches when they have chased in IPL. Out of which they have won 8 off them in the final over.
Shubman Gill: "I felt really good. But disappointed with the way, I got out. Happy with the start I gave for the team. Ah definitely, it makes a difference when you have got some runs under the belt, got some international experience. The wicket is soo good here. You don't need to overhit it. You just need to time the ball here and it flies away.

No specific roles here. It's about who gets well settled and you need to keep going. The intent Wriddhi bhai was setting in was to get as many runs as possible in the powerplay. Yeah, very excited to play half the games here when the crowd is cheering."
MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings Captain): "Well, I think we were slightly short with the total. Not that we batted badly. Just that we needed some extra runs since there was some dew during the chase. I thought we could have just batted a bit more positively earlier. We could have added some good batsmanship during our innings. We just tried to muscle every ball in the latter stages of the innings. Could have done a bit better.

I mean Ruturaj is a classy batter. The way he batted was delightful to watch. He times the ball really well. He knows when to accelerate and takes the right decisions.

Hangargekar is an upcoming bowler. He bowled well. He has pace with him. We can't afford to bowl any no balls. We should control what we can. I felt that two left arm spinners were better options and hence went with them. Yes, Shivam Dube was an option, but I felt comfortable with other bowlers."
11:38 PM IST | Rahul Tewatia, the finisher gets unleashed once again. You get to witness the IPL, you get to witness the last-over finishes, and you simply cannot write off ✍️ when Rahul Tewatia is batting at the crease. Gujarat Titans emerge victorious at the season opener, pipping out Chennai Super Kings in front of over one Lakh crowd.

Shubman Gill laid the foundation for the chase and was well assisted by Wriddhiman Saha at the other side of the crease. The first wicket fell at 37 runs when Saha was shadowed by youngster Rajvardhan Hangargekar. Sai Sudharsan stepped in as the impact player substitute for Kane Williamson who had injured his knee earlier at the time of fielding. Hardik Pandya had an off day with the bat as Jadeja's quicker one enforced whispers of death, shattering the off stump.

Gill stayed till the end of the 15th over, garnering 63 runs off 36 balls but it was Vijay Shankar who stuck around (27 off 21 balls) and helped the castle to get rebuilt. A brilliant 17th over from Deepak Chahar meant that 30 runs were needed from the 18 balls. It came down the line with Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia at either end.

The Afghan T20I skipper bludgeoned a six and four in the 19th over from Chahar and narrowed down the equation. They needed 8 more runs to win from the last over and impact sub, Tushar Deshpande spilled the beans this time. Finisher Tewatia🔥 evolved and tonked a six and a four to ride the Titans to victory with four balls to spare.

Earlier, CSK got off to 178 runs on the back of Ruturaj Gaikwad’s 92 off 50 balls. They got an early setback as Devon Conway was cleaned up by an in-angler from Mohammed Shami. Moeen Ali joined the Maharashtra-based cricketer and succored in a 36 runs partnership. Rashid Khan got the better of him at the cusp of the powerplay and the left-handed Ben Stokes followed his Three Lions’ teammate in no time.

There were patchy stands in the middle with Gaikwad which helped CSK to get past the 150 runs mark. Ambati Rayudu and Shivam Dube looked scratchy which led to the dismissal of the elegant batter for eight runs short of his century.

A quick cameo from skipper MS Dhoni (14* off 7 balls) at the cue end boosted the scoreboard to 178 runs. Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, and Alzarri Joseph scalped two wickets each with Joshua Little a solitary one. The Caribbean bowler was taken to the cleaners in his first over but made a strong comeback.

19.2 T Deshpande to R Tewatia
4 FOURRR!!! Tewatia finishes off in style. GT start from where they left off last season. Fuller-length yet again around the off-stump. Tewatia gets it from the middle of the bat as he drills it down the ground. It goes past the bowler and no one is stopping this tracer bullet. Four runs to clinch first points for the Titans!
RAHUL TEWATIA!! A SYNONYM FOR THE LAST OVER FINISHES.
19.1 T Deshpande to R Tewatia
6 SIXXX!!! That should be the final nail in CSK's coffin! Fuller-length delivery outside the off. Tewatia shuffles across and gets underneath it to loft it over long-off. Gets just enough bat on it and clears long-off for a six. Scores are level now.
