Meg Lanning (Delhi Capitals Women Captain): "It's a nice start to the tournament. Jess and Jemimah did a fine job in the end which helped us finish with a flourish and we picked up wickets in the powerplay. I enjoy batting here in India. The ball flies off the ground. These are batting-friendly wickets and will look at how it goes as the tournament progresses. It's a great setup at the Delhi Capitals. Hopefully, I'll wear the Orange Cap for two more games."

Marizanne Kapp (Delhi Capitals Women): "Iâm enjoying the batting but not the bowling at the moment. I think I have got confidence in my batting. The openers have been exceptional. But we are blessed to have a well-balanced team. Jess also came out playing her strokes lower down the order. Iâm gonna have a bowl after this interview (Smiles). I need to bowl more quicker. In the first match, I bowled fuller and tonight I bowled shorter. So, I have to adjust quickly. Itâs tough to bowl here on these venues as we have seen the batters enjoy here."
Alyssa Healy (UP Warriorz Women Captain): "Look That's T20 cricket. We went for 65 runs with the ball and lost 3 in the first 5 overs of our batting. I think some positives to take for us. I think nothing to change for us. Ismail did well. We gave away too many runs and lost too many wickets. No support for Tahlia. So, we need to buck up. I tried my best in getting to a good total, but we lacked support in the end. I think we have to be smarter and do the little things right. I think dropping two catches did not help either. We could have kept them down to 180. Now, a quick turn around and looking forward to CCI now."

The batters set up things by posting a mammoth total on the board before their bowlers stepped up to defend it successfully.
Chasing a mammoth total, the Warriorzâ skipper Alyssa Healy got them off to a blistering start. She started aggressively and hit five boundaries and raced to 24 in no time. Experienced campaigner Jess Jonassen provided the first breakthrough for the Capitals Women when she outsmarted Healy in the fourth over. She struck again to send back Kiran Navgire in the same over.
Shweta Sehrawatâs struggles at the crease came to an end as the Warriorz were reeling at 33/3 at the end of the powerplay. Tahlia McGrath along with Deepti Sharma led the recovery work. McGrath played some beautiful strokes but Deepti struggled for timing at the other end. She miscued one and fell on 12 in the 11th over. The required run rate was creeping up and the Warriorz were falling behind it.
Devika Vaidya scored 23 and supported McGrath from the other end before holing out in the deep. McGrath brought up her maiden WPL fifty. She hit boundaries for fun in the end and remained unbeaten on 90 off just 50 balls but it wasnât enough as they lost the game by 42 runs. Jess Jonassen was the standout bowler for the Capitals as she picked up three wickets. Marizanne Kapp and Shikha Pandey also chipped in with a wicket each as they defended the total successfully.

She played some sensational strokes up front and took on the Warriorz. Shafali Verma supported her skipper nicely from the other end and they scored 62 at the end of the powerplay. Shafali fell on 17 in the seventh over. Marizanne Kapp joined her skipper and was looking good before departing on 16.
There was no stopping Lanning at the other end as she continued playing her strokes and raced to her fifty in no time. Her second consecutive fifty in the tournament. The Capitals Women were going at over 10 runs per over before Lanning was cleaned up by Rajeshwari Gayakwad on 70 off 42 balls. âMegaStarâ hit 10 fours and three maximums. Alice Capsey scored 21 off 10 balls before getting dismissed while trying to up the ante.
