That brings us to the end of the coverage of this fantastic encounter between Royal Challengers Banglore Women and Delhi Capitals Women. It was Delhi Capitals day today as they sneaked away with a victory. Do join us for all the upcoming games from all around the globe. For now, it's me Hitesh Peddurwar signing off along with my co-commentator Akshaya Krishna Polya and scorer/analyst Manish Bishnoi. Until then stay safe.
Tara Norris (Player of the Match): "Delighted to perform with the ball and it was a fantastic atmosphere here. Meg Lanning and Shafali started well with the bat and the bowlers executed their plans. It is amazing to be here and delighted with the win. The first wicket that too of Perry, it's always special."
Meg Lanning (Delhi Capitals Women Skipper): "It was a great atmosphere out there and happy to get the win. Shafali was playing amazingly out there. It was a lot of fun to play with her. We were smiling a lot of the time while hitting the boundaries. That's the great thing about these competitions. You get to play with people you wouldn't play with normally, you get to have a lot of fun and you learn something. We felt that it was a good surface to bat on and we posted a good total."
Smriti Mandhana (Royal Challengers Bangalore Women Skipper): "Definitely it's not the start we wanted. We gave a few extra runs about 20-30 runs. We failed to bowl the slower deliveries in the middle overs as DC bowlers did. This is the thing we need to work on. We are used to playing back-to-back matches for the franchises, we have a few hours to get back to think about and hopefully, we will come stronger tomorrow. The wicket didn't change much we got the start but we failed to capitalize on it."
Marizanne Kapp: "That's the nice thing about being an all-rounder if you don't perform with the ball in hand you can perform with the bat in hand. It was good to come out and hit the ball cleanly today. Credit goes to our openers they played pretty well It was my first game under Meg, hopefully, I can learn a few things from her going forward."
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony!!!!
18:46 IST| That's it, Delhi Capitals have dominated in all three departments and have won this game by 60 runs. They start their WPL campaign with a victory on the other hand, it's a big setback for the RCB as they have lost this game by a huge margin.

RCB were off to a flying start. Skipper Smriti Mandhana and veteran batter Sophie Devine opened the innings for RCB. The target was massive to chase and RCB batters came with all guns blazing. This duo glued a partnership of 41 runs off just 26 balls. Devine departed after scoring 14 off 11 balls, Shafali Verma took an excellent catch at mid-off to depart Sophie Devine. Smriti Mandhana didn't stop as she kept on hitting the boundaries and was accompanied by Ellyse Perry in the middle.

Just after the powerplay RCB lost the wicket of their skipper Smriti Mandhana (35 off 23) and were put under pressure. The scoreboard pressure was denting the RCB batters and wickets started tumbling down for them. The credit goes to the new bowling sensation Tara Norris, she broke the backbone of the RCB middle order. RCB went from 3-89 to 7-96 in a flash.

Heather Knight and Megan Schutt played a few glorious shots and glued a partnership of 54 runs for the 8th wicket but all went in vain as it was too late. Megan Schutt remained unbeaten on 30* off 19 balls.

Tara Norris was the pick of the bowlers for Delhi Capitals as she scalped 5 wickets in her 4-over spell and gave away just 29 runs. She became the first bowler to get a five-wicket haul in the WPL. Alice Capsey scalped a couple of wickets and Shikha Pandey scalped a solitary wicket.

Earlier in the game, RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana win the toss and invited DC to bat first. Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning opened the innings for DC. The openers were breathing fire 🔥 from the word go. Shafali was clearing the in-field in the powerplay on the other hand Meg was piercing the ball through the gaps. It was the perfect combo of elegance and power.

Delhi Capitals scored 57 runs in the powerplay without losing any wickets. The surface was excellent to bat on and DC batters made full use of it. There was no stopping for these batters they accelerated at the right moment and started scoring at a brisk rate. They forged a massive partnership of 162 runs for the first wicket.

Heather Knight broke this partnership in the 15th over, it was the icing on the cake for her as she got the wicket of both the openers in one over. Meg Lanning departed after scoring 72 runs from 43 balls and Shafali Verma followed her after scoring 84 off 45 balls.

Marizanne Kapp(39* off 17) and Jemimah Rodrigues(22* off 15) took right from the point where the openers left and took their team to a massive total of 223 runs.

Delhi Capitals had an excellent game today, on the other hand, RCB had a day to forget. Game two has finished in the WPL and in both games over 200 runs were scored in the first innings, this is the new era of Women's Cricket!!!!!

Stay tuned with us as we will be back with the post-match presentation ceremony!!!
