That brings an end to our coverage for this game. Do join us for more cricketing action all around the globe. For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Ninaad Dixit and scorer Zeeshan Naiyer. Until next time, cheers and goodbye.
8:55 PM IST, 4:25 PM Local Time: For the second time today, the rain has the final say. Another Women's Hundred 2023 game has been abandoned without a ball being bowled. Birmingham Phoenix Women and Trent Rockets Women share a point each.
8:38 PM IST, 4:08 PM Local Time: Ohh nooo. It looks like the rain has returned. A few umbrellas go up in the stands and the groundsmen have walked off the field.
8:22 PM IST, 3:52 PM Local Time: There will be a pitch inspection at 4:15 PM Local Time (8:45 PM IST) if no further rain.
8:12 PM IST, 3:42 PM Local Time: The rain has almost stopped and the ground staff is working hard to mop up the water present on the covers.
7:32 PM IST, 3:02 PM Local Time: The cut-off time for a 25-ball per-side contest is 4:42 PM Local Time (9:12 PM IST).
Ninaad: I hope she was fit enough to bowl some overs for the Phoenix looking at her workload in the multi-format Ashes. Anyways losing a senior leader and an allrounder of Perry's calibre is a very big blow for the Phoenix. They do have some young allrounders rising through the ranks but I feel it adds some amount of responsibility on Sophie Devine's shoulders.
Akshay: Speaking of both sides, Ellyse Perry ruled herself out of the competition due to an injury. How big a blow is it for Birmingham Phoenix?
Ninaad: Sadly the weather (especially in UK) has no warranty and the waiting time could be surprising at times. We could only hope that the rain stops, weather clears, the ground staff does their job which they have done excellently over the years and then we might get some cricket!

Looking at the game, two teams who have missed out to get to a winning start to the tourney, they would be expecting a result looking at the big potential in both the squads.
Akshay: As we wait for the rain to stop, let's welcome Ninaad into the commentary box and try to get some solutions to this English weather. Good evening mate. Now that you have repaired your laptop successfully, please provide a solution to this weather problem that we often have in the UK.
7:15 PM IST, 2:45 PM Local Time: The live visuals suggest that puddles are forming on the outfield and it will take a long time for the groundstaff to make the ground ready for play. The only thing we can do for now is to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the rain to stop.
6:32 PM IST, 2:02 PM Local Time: And with this, the toss has been officially delayed.
6:09 PM IST, 1:39 PM Local Time: It's raining at Edgbaston and the covers remain firmly in place. Let's hope we get some positive news soon.

Pitch Report: The pitch at Edgbaston is a well-balanced track. it is under covers for the most part of the day and the pacers can get some movement off the deck. They can certainly exploit the overcast conditions on offer today and the batters will have to be patient while batting here.
