Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh Captain): “In T20, it’s difficult when just 1-2 guys to contribute, but for us the entire team did well. The intent was positive from the openers and that got us the platform to post a good total. The guys that have come in have showed maturity, they do not panic, they enjoy their cricket and that’s what they’re doing. The way the seamers have been bowling, it’s been fantastic. There are a couple of more guys who have not got opportunities but I’m sure they’ll do well once given a chance.”
Paul Stirling (Ireland Captain): "Actually we got the better of conditions today. Looked somewhat tricky to bat at some point in the day and the wicket got flatter and flatter. The rain came in so it got easier to bat. Being in the losing side with the conditions being in our favor is pretty disappointing but we look to improve and come back.
I think we need to pick wickets. Over the course of past week, something we have spoken about. In periods, we were slightly unlucky. The ball fell in wrong areas. I think if we picked a couple of wickets there, slightly a different game. We can put a bit more squeeze and scoreboard pressure but it didn't go our way and they built another great platform. Actually I thought we came back well in the last 10 overs. I think it could have been worse it could have got away from us.
Its always a pressure to captain this team and this country."

5:55 PM IST: Bangladesh keep their nerves to defend 104 runs in 8 overs to win the opening encounter of the T20I series against Ireland by 22 runs to go 1-0 up. A 91-run opening stand between Litton Das and half-centurion Rony Talukdar and important hits in the lower order from Shamim Hossain, Towhid Hridoy, skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz put Bangladesh in a strong position at 207/5 in 19.2 overs.
Rain played spoilsport and the innings was over at that stage giving Ireland a steep target of 104 runs in 8 overs. Skipper Paul Stirling and Ross Adair provided a solid start but a terrific over from Hasan Mahmud and then a career-best T20I performance from Taskin Ahmed (4/16 in 2 overs) sealed the deal for Bangladesh as they restricted Ireland for 81/5 in 8 overs.
Hasan Mahmud and Taskin Ahmed kept calm and bowled terrific spells and were backed by Shakib Al Hasan who bowled an over conceding only 5 runs off it and putting the pressure back on the Irish middle order already perpetrated by losing regular wickets thanks to Taskin Ahmed.

W OUT! CAUGHT! That was a blinder by Mehidy Hasan! Taskin Ahmed bowls it slow and keeps it full. Tector plays that uppishly towards the deep square-leg region, and despite the ball dying down on him, Hasan manages to get his fingers underneath it cleanly courtesy his well execute dive.
32 needed off the final over! 5 sixes and a boundary is an improbable task. Taskin will deliver the goods for Bangladesh.
