Match Details
In pursuit of 157, the Victorians started on a decent note. Shykat Ali 15(10) accelerated the innings straightaway, however, his stay was soon ceased by Mrittunjoy Chowdhury. Skipper Imrul Kayes 15(10), the next batter in, played a couple of good strokes before he was dismissed by Ziaur Rahman. That was soon followed by a massive wicket of Johnson Charles as the Victorians were reeling at 68/3 at the halfway stage.
Mohammad Rizwan continued the unhurried approach, and he was joined by Mosaddek Hossain. The duo kept ticking the scorecard and hunted for boundaries every once in a while. The game was pretty much leveled before the 15th over, where Rizwan swatted 20 runs and completely changed the course of the game. Following that over, it was a fairly straightforward ask for the Victorians.
Chowdhury broke the 76-run stand between the pair by dismissing Rizwan 61(47), with 5 fours and 2 maximums to his credit. However, it was a little too late for the Challengers. Mosaddek 37(27)* played the second fiddle for the most part and remained unbeaten in the end.
Earlier in the day, after opting to bat first, the Challengers were in a spot of bother early on as Tanvir Islam trapped Mehedi Maruf 0(2) in the first over. That was soon followed by another quick wicket of Khawaja Nafay 2(6). Tottering at 6/2, Afif Hossain and Usman Khan got together and stabilized the innings. The duo glued up a partnership of 88 runs before Shykat Ali got better off Usman 52(41).
Following that, the Challengers went off the track but left-handed Hossain continued and produced a composed inning of 66(49). Darwish Rasooli also swatted a quickfire 21(9)* and took the Challengers to a respectable total. Stick around for the post-match presentation!
