Well, that's all for today folks! This is Tugral Azmi, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ayan Chatterjee, and our scorer/analyst Ashok Dayma! The Rangpur Riders with a comprehensive win today but can the defending Champion Comilla Victorians bounce back? Rangpur starts off its campaign on a high note. All that and much more on our coverage of the BPL this season! Stay Tuned! See you at the next one!
Nurul Hasan (Rangpur Riders Captain): "Great beginning for us. It was fantastic how Rony and Sheikh got things going. For us, that cooperation was crucial. The bowlers did a great job. They handled the wet ball really well. We have a long way to go."
Rony Talukdar (Player of the match): "The pitch was good and I loved batting this. I feel awesome and can't express it in words. Always want to contribute to the team total and I am a team man. Yes, 176 was a defendable score. The bowlers are good for us and I had a firm belief that we will defend this total."
Imrul Kayes (Comilla Victorians Captain): "I think in this wicket 150-160 is a good score. We gave away 25 extra runs. We started well with the bat but didn't finish well. Our bowlers came back well after a bad start. I am trying my best. The ball was skiddy and hard to bat out there. Hopefully, we can come back in the coming games."
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony.
10.30 PM IST |AND WITH THAT WICKET, THE RIDERS HAVE COMPLETED A COMPREHENSIVE VICTORY OVER THE DEFENDING CHAMPION VICTORIANS! The Men in blue defeat their counterparts by 34 runs to take home the points and starts their campaign on a high.

Chasing 177 on this surface was going to be a tricky one. The Victorians lost Litton Das early in the innings on just 10. Shykat Ali and Dawid Malan then took charge, scoring at a rapid pace. However, their progress was halted when the latter was dismissed for 17 runs off 9 balls. Mohammad Naim struggled for his 16 off 21 balls. Imrul Kayes along with Mosaddek Hossain started building a partnership for the fourth wicket. Both played some brilliant strokes and kept finding the boundaries regularly. Omarzai broke the 58-run stand when he dismissed the skipper of Camilla Victorians on 35. However, they collapsed, and it all started with the downfall of their skipper on the fifth ball of the 15th over, following that they never recovered as they lost the next 7 wickets for just 27 runs. The scoreboard pressure weighed heavily and eventually, they caved in.

The Rider's bowling attack was led by Hasan Mahmud, who claimed three wickets for 20 runs in 3.1 overs. Robiul Haque (4-0-33-2), and Sikandar Raza (4-0-23-2) also chipped in with a couple of wickets each. Azmatullah Omarzai, Benny Howell, and Rakibul Hasan bagged a solitary wicket each.

Riders were off to a flyer thanks to Rony Talukdar's fastest fifty in the history of BPL. They were on course for something around 200 marks. But post the departure of Talukdar no one really got going, a few other batters did get the start but they failed to convert it into something big. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and could only manage to put in 176 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. A wicket apiece for Fazalhaq Farooqi, Mustafizur Rahman, Khusdil Shah, and Mosaddek Hossain. There was a run-out as well.

In the end, the Rangpur Riders outclassed their opponents in all departments to take home points and celebration! Stick with our live coverage for the post-match presentation.
19.1 H Mahmud to Zaman
W WICKET! That's the end of the game. Length delivery here, Zaman hits it hard down the ground and he gets the height and not the distance. The ball carries to the long-on fielder who makes no mistake. Raza is the catcher as Zaman departs. So, Zaman departs as Comilla have been bowled out for 142 in 19.1 overs. Win for the Rangpur Riders by 34 runs to start their campaign with a win.
