That's a wrap to our coverage of the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka in Guwahati with the hosts coming out on top. Both teams head off to the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata for the second ODI on Thursday where India will look to wrap up the series while Sri Lanka will look to level the series. Do join us for this one and stick around for all other cricketing actions across the globe in our network.

For now, this is me Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my esteemed co-commentators Ninaad Dixit and Akshaya Krishna Polya alongside scorer/analysts Chandan Kumar Singh and Ashok Dayma. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodnight and Cheers!
Virat Kohli: "No nothing different. No difference in preparation. The intent is the same. Today I was hitting the balls well, so went with the flow. It was close to the template that I follow. We needed the extra runs and I am happy to do them. We lost wickets and so then I had to bat a bit differently and help the team get to a good total.

The one thing I learned was desperation gets you nowhere. The game is simple and we mustn't make it complicated. Detachment helps and having no fear helps you. These are the few things I learned. There is nothing to hold onto and I want to enjoy myself."
Virat Kohli is the Player of the Match.
Rohit Sharma (India Captain): "We started off really well with the bat. It was a great effort for all the batters. The platform was set to play freely for all the batters. We could have bowled slightly better. I don't want to be too critical about it. The dew was not that much but it was still difficult to bowl. We got wickets upfront with the ball which helped us with the momentum.

There are some areas we need to look at as a group. Its a team sport. Its not about one or two individual. Everyone should come together and do the job. Shami went for the appeal but he is batting on 98, the way he batted was brilliant so we cannot get him out like that. We want to get him out the way we thought of getting him out and that wasn't something we thought."
Dasun Shanaka (Sri Lanka Captain): "I think the start that the Indian bowlers gave that was the difference.  I think there were plans, but the bowlers did not execute it. We did not stick to it and paid the price in the first 12-15 overs. I am doing the basics right, which is helping me to succeed. I think it depends on the team's preference. I want to go up the order but I think the team wants me to bat at 6."
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony.
Umran Malik: "I want to bowl in good areas and do well. It was a flat wicket, the bounce was low. I spoke with the bowling coach, skipper and Shami. They told me to bowl wicket to wicket and used the bouncer which worked for me. I want to bowl in good areas and my role is to bowl in the middle overs."
9:25 PM IST: Dasun Shanaka finishes things off in style with a majestic ton but it's Team India who takes the honors to win by 67 runs and takes a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series. If one looks back at the match, they have outplayed the visitors in all facets of the game and deserve this win.

Chasing an improbable 374 for the win, Sri Lanka lost early wickets and never got going. Avishka Fernando and Kusal Mendis went for single-digit scores. Charith Asalanka scored 23 and Dhananjaya de Silva scored a good-looking 47. The two stand-out performers were Pathum Nissanka at the top of the order as he scored 72 off 80 balls. But it was skipper Dasun Shanaka who stole the spotlight in the end with a majestic 108* off 88 balls that reduced the margin of defeat for the Lankans. This was Shanaka's 2nd ODI ton. Wanindu Hasaranga and Chamika Karunaratne got into double figures. They ended with 306/8 in 50 overs with 12 extras given by the fielding side.

Mohammad Siraj picked up a couple of wickets up front as he was the pick of the bowlers. Umran Malik picked up 3 wickets but was hammered at the end by Shanaka. A wicket apiece for Mohammad Shami, Hardik Pandya, and Yuzvendra Chahal. All in all, they will be happy with their bowling performance but will be a tad disappointed with the last few overs where they failed to bowl out the opposition.

India got off to a blazing start after being inserted into bat by Dasun Shanaka. The opening duo of skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill came out firing with a 143-run opening stand inside 20 overs. Rohit scored 83 off 67 balls and Gill scored 70 off 60 balls. Then it was the Virat Kohli show as he was quick off the blocks. The diminutive right-hander and former captain notched up his 45th ODI hundred and 73rd International ton. This was his 9th ODI ton against Sri Lanka. He scored 113 off 87 balls. Shreyas Iyer chipped in with 28 off 24 balls while KL Rahul chipped in with 39 off 29 balls. Hardik Pandya scored 14 off 12 balls as India managed a massive 373/7 in 50 overs with only 6 extras given by the Sri Lankans.

Kasun Rajitha picked up 3 wickets for Sri Lanka but went for 88 runs in his 10 overs. A wicket apiece for Dilshan Madushanka, Chamika Karunaratne, Dasun Shanaka, and Dhananjaya de Silva. Madushanka went off the field with a dodgy shoulder and that really affected the Lankans with the ball. They were sloppy in the field and dropped catches did not help. Virat was dropped twice and he made them pay. It was a bad day in the field for the Lankans.

So, a win for India by 67 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series. Stay tuned for the post-match presentation ceremony that comes your way soon.

6 SIXX!! What a way to finish the game! Length ball on the middle stump, gets on the front foot and smacks this over midwicket for a maximum! India win by 67 runs.
A majestic second ODI ton from skipper Dasun Shanaka as he has been the lone ranger for Sri Lanka here. The 300 comes up for the Lankans.
49.5 M Shami to D Shanaka
4 FOUR!!! This is a hundred for Shanaka!! Fuller delivery around the off stump, Shanaka drives through the off side and finds the gap! No protection in the deep as the ball runs away to the fence! The whole stadium and his teammates applaud the effort.
49.4 M Shami to K Rajitha
1+4 Short of length on the stumps, Rajitha blocks in front of Rohit at cover and gets off for a quick single. Rohit has a shy at the batting end stumps but misses. Four overthrows! Rajitha gets his highest ODI score with these 5 runs!
Shami attempts a run out at the bowling end. Nitin Menon goes for the TV umpire. Shanaka is shocked. The appeal is now withdrawn after Rohit has a word with Shami.
49.3 M Shami to D Shanaka
1 139.3kph. Full and outside off, guides this to deep third man. Umran Malik at deep third man fields as a single is taken.
