So, that's it from the clash of the table toppers. Once again the Gulf Giants have edged past the Vipers and this time defended a total comfortably. This is Arijit Kundu, signing off alongside co-commentator, Wali Pervez and scorer/analyst Chandan Kumar Singh. Stay tuned as the next game follows up.
Player of the Match: Shimron Hetmyer

Colin Munro (Captain of the Desert Vipers): “Losing is never easy but I think it’s the way we went about it. The batting and bowling and the efforts on the field were not good enough. It’s flabbergasting with the number of dropped catches in the tournament, hopefully, the boys go back to the drawing board after this. Rohan has been good for us and is finding the right tempo, hopefully, he can continue.”

7:23 PM IST | And that is it!! The Gulf Giants have won both clashes against the Desert Vipers in this edition of the ILT20. They have won the match by 25 runs and once the openers of the Vipers were gone, the side was pushed on the back foot. The Vipers failed to recover and it was Tom Curran who was the lone warrior in the end.

Earlier Desert Vipers won the toss and elected to field first. Tom Banton and James Vince were the usual openers for the Giants. They gave a brisk start to the side and it was Banton who departed inside the powerplay.

Chris Lynn failed to notch up big runs and James Vince got out at 39 off 23 balls. They were put short to 81-3 at the end of 8.5 overs. However, Erasmus and Hetmyer glued 48 runs together and steadied the ship. Hetty tore apart the bowlers at the late end of the innings and jolted a 54 runs innings from just 35 balls. It boosted the total to 180 runs at the end of the full quota of overs. Matheesha Pathirana was the pick of the bowlers with two scalps. Howell, Cottrell, and Lintott bagged a solitary wicket.

The Vipers started off well while chasing a target of 181 runs. Rohan Mustafa scored a shaky 28 off 20 balls after mistiming quite a few shots. Alex Hales on the other hand was scoring at the top gear before Afzal Khan dismissed him. The run rate at the end of the powerplay was near 10 runs per over but the dismissal of the opening pair slowed down the innings.

Sam Billings scored run-a-ball 22 and at one stage they were pushed back to 88-5. Tom Curran was the lone warrior at the cue end of the innings with support from Benny Howell and Jake Lintott. They failed to turn the table and in the end, the Vipers failed to reach the total by 25 runs.
