Arriving for the chase, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Tom Kohler-Cadmore gave a flying start to the Sharjah Warriors on this day. It was actually Gurbaz who kept on blazing fire. He tore apart the bowlers inside the powerplay. They raced up 62 runs in 5.2 overs.
Gurbaz was dismissed at the 10th over and the side had already crossed 90 runs then. But the bowlers of the Knight Riders pulled the ball in their court by extracting wickets in a regular fashion. Lahiru Kumara scalped two wickets in one over but a counter-attack followed from the tail. With a bit of crest and troughs in the graph, Sharjah Warriors managed to pull off a win in the end.
Earlier, the Knight Riders opted to bat first, and got off to a strong start, with openers Paul Stirling and Joe Clarke displaying great poise at the crease. Clarke, however, failed to capitalize on the opportunity and was dismissed for only 7 runs, leaving Stirling in command of the innings.
Dhananjaya de Silva joined Stirling at the crease, and the two began to build a partnership, but their efforts were cut short when de Silva was caught off guard by Paul Walter's precision in the 13th over, departing for 18 runs off 21 balls.
Stirling looked in great touch and departed for 56 runs. Despite the early setbacks, the Knight Riders' middle order rose to the occasion, with Andre Russell and Charith Asalanka taking charge of the scoring at the end of the inning. Russell, who was on fire, smashed 33 runs off 28 balls before leaving in the final over. Asalanka, on the other hand, remained unbeaten on 21 runs off 13 balls, contributing to his team's 149-run total in 20 overs.
Paul Walter bagged two wickets. Noor Ahmad and Naveen-ul-Haq bagged a solitary wicket.
