Chasing 152, the Gulf Giants never got going as they lost wickets in clusters from the get-go. They started the inning with Skipper Vince and Ahmed. They had a horrible start as they lost the wicket of Ahmed without any runs on the scoreboard. Top-order batters never looked good in the middle and lost 5 wickets in the 5.3 overs. Lynn scored a fighting 20 off 22 balls at the top of the order. The Giants scored 27 runs and lost five wickets in the powerplay.
David Wiese and Chris Jordan both put up a partnership of 27 runs in the middle before Wiese departs at 35 off 29 balls with the help of 3 fours and a six. Chris Jordan came and scored a breathtaking 37 off 26 balls at the end of the day to reduce the margin. So, Jordan had a good day with both the bat and the ball but his team didn't. The Giants finished at 130 in 19.4 overs.
Warriors bowlers did a great job from the start and destroyed Giants' top order. Naveen-ul-Haq was the pick of the bowler, gave away 38 runs in his 3.4 overs, and scalped 5 wickets. Chris Woakes pocketed 2 wickets in his name while also Siddique scalped 2 wickets in his spell and Ahmed celebrated with a wicket.
Earlier in the day, Gulf Giants won the toss and opt to bowl first. The Warriors openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and his co-partner Tom Kohler-Cadmore failed to give a good start for the Warriors as they lost the wicket of Gurbaz with 12 runs on board. But Cadmore played a quick-fired knock of 36 runs off 20 balls. Sharjah Warriors scored 48 runs with the loss of 2 wickets in the powerplay. Malan failed to impress us today as he departed at 5 runs.
Skipper Moeen Ali and Joe Denly steered the sinking ship of
the Warriors. This duo glued a partnership of 37 runs for the 4th wicket before
Moeen Ali departed at 16 runs off 12 balls. Joe Denly end one end pretty well
and helped his team to get to a total of 151 runs. He played an excellent knock
of 58 runs off 43 balls.
From the Giant's bowling side, Chris Jordan was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped 3 wickets and became the highest wicket-taker in this tournament.
Gleeson, Sharma, Wiese, and Ahmed scalped a wicket each.
