Moeen Ali (Morrisville Samp Army Captain): "Yeah, obviously, so far, so good. Hopefully, we continue this good form. Now, we need to continue the winning momentum. The thing with us is that the support staff and management back us as well. They and we, players, are on the same page about the approach, and hence it gets easier to perform on the field. We need to improve on a few departments. Such as fielding, where we have dropped a few catches. We are playing games every day from now on, and I guess there will be chops and changes in the playing XI to give rest for a few players."

Earlier in the match, Morrisville Samp Army won the toss and opt to bowl first. The Chennai Braves were off to a flier, thanks to swashbuckling innings’ from their openers, Adam Rossington (19 off 11) and Dawid Malan (32 off 20), as they put in 53 runs for the first wicket. But both these batters got out in a matter of few balls, and the pressure was on the middle order to continue the good work of the openers. Two Englishmen, Ross Whiteley and Daniel Lawrence, though they didn’t middle the ball much, contributed with a healthy 21 off 13 balls each, alongside adding 50 runs for the third wicket. While Lawrence got out in the last over, Whiteley remained unbeaten to help the side reach 105/4 in their allotted 10 overs.
For the Samp Army, Anrich Nortje scalped a couple of wickets, while Ahmed Raza and Dwaine Pretorius picked a wicket each.
Chasing the target of 106, the Samp Army lost their skipper Moeen Ali (6 off 6) cheaply in the third over. On either side of Moeen’s dismissal, his opening partner Johnson Charles tore apart the Braves bowlers to score a quick cameo of 23 off 13 deliveries. Once Charles lost his wicket in the 4th over, one would have thought that the chase would get difficult for the Samp Army. But Karim Janat (58* in 28, including 1 four and 6 sixes) had different ideas as he came out with all guns blazing to take the team home alongside Killer-Miller (17* off 10) as they won by 8 wickets with four balls in hand.
