Faf du Plessis(Joburg Super Kings Captain): "Quite anxious It's important to have a game that close. The lads will be really confident in their ability to hit. We were outstanding, and our bowling was amazing. We played great fielding. I ought to have gone back and made certain I brought it home. It shocked us. Low and slowly moving. In both innings, there was a little bit of grip. We are acting morally as a bowling team. Today marks a significant improvement for our batting order."
Aaron Phangiso: "Obviously, a lot of hard work. I was given the opportunity to participate in a tournament like this and I have been doing well through the season. The wicket did a lot and I stuck to my lengths. It's good to turn now and then. This has been one of the toughest games considering my action was reported. This is for my family and friends who supported me through it."

Aiden Markram(Sunrisers Eastern Cape Captain): "In the end, it was quite close. For us, maybe 20 additional runs would have been great. It took a lot of character to fight all the way to the final over. Very pleased with the fight we displayed. As we lost wickets, it was first difficult to figure it out. We struggled to reach 120-odd when we had hoped to be between 140 and 150. We thought there was a lot of variation. Building pressure and picking off targets were the goals. Very good bowling. We can put this behind us and begin again tomorrow. We'll give it our best shot."

The Sunrisers Eastern Cape, after being invited to bat first, were bundled out for a paltry 127 runs in the 19th over. Adam Rossington was the top performer for them, as he amassed 40 runs off 31 balls in a valiant effort to take his team to a respectable total. However, it was not to be, as the Super Kings' bowlers, led by Aaron Phangiso and Gerald Coetzee, scalped four wickets each to restrict the Sunrisers Eastern Cape to a low total.
In pursuit of the Sunrisers' total, the Super Kings got off to a shaky start as they lost Reeza Hendricks for just 6 runs. Skipper Faf du Plessis and Neil Brand then stabilized the innings with a sensible and brisk partnership in the powerplay. However, the progress was halted when Neil Brand departed for 16 runs.
Skipper Faf was rotating the strike sensibly, but he went for a big shot and lost his wicket, departing for 37 runs off 38 balls. He was soon followed by Sibonelo Makhanya in the very next over, leaving the Super Kings with a mountain to climb. But, the Super Kings' middle order came to the party, led by Leus du Plooy, who remained unbeaten on 47 runs off 40 balls, sealed the game for the Super Kings by 5 wickets, much to the delight of the Super Kings fans.
Roelof van der Merwe was the pick of the bowlers for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, as he scalped 2 wickets and gave away just 16 runs in 4 overs. Sisanda Magala and JJ Smuts also contributed one wicket each, but it was not enough to stop the Super Kings from securing a hard-fought victory.
