Milestone
That also wraps up our coverage and it was a comprehensive victory for MI Cape Town as they defeat Joburg Super Kings by 7 wickets. For now, this is Megh Mandaliya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Arijit Kundu, and scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. Cheers and have a good night!
Rashid Khan (MI Cape Town Captain): "It was amazing, especially the way we started with the ball. KG, Linde, and then Waqar. I think it was a great team effort and happy to get over the line. So happy for Waqar as well. Waqar and I have played one test before and he has done an amazing job in the past. Linde also bowled well in the powerplay and he and KG gave us the platform early on. I think we have the best bowling unit and as a captain, it makes it a little difficult to choose which one to use and at what time. The crowd has been fantastic here."
Kagiso Rabada (Player of the Match): "Good way to start. George got some early wickets. That helped us. I tried to keep it simple. It was a lovely game to play. Always, lovely playing at home. Lovely playing at Newlands. Always a whole new level of energy. Yeah, the tournament looked fantastic. Every game has been sold out and the crowd has been amazing. I will be looking to make bowling as simple as Joff (Jofra Archer), and Olly has been amazing as well."
Player of the Match: Kagiso Rabada

Faf du Plessis (Joburg Super Kings Captain): "T20 game is all about confidence. A few days now to go back to Joburg and get some training. The pitch was pretty slow and worn out. We were a spinner less but hopefully, Theekshana would fill that gap next week.  Our team has some really good fast bowlers and hopefully, the pitches will be good enough at the Wanderers."

Time for the presentation ceremony...
12:13 AM IST | Arijit: And there are the winning runs from the highest-paid star of the IPL auction 2023. The MI Cape Town wanted to wrap the game within the 16th over but to their disgrace, it didn't happen. Although they failed to bag the bonus point, the Cape Town-based franchise would be contented with the performance that they glittered today.

While chasing, Dewald Brevis and Ryan Rickelton came out encapsulated as left and right-hand combos. It did work for MI as they got off to more than a par start with respect to the target.

Rickelton played the role of a grafter and Brevis attacked the bowlers on seldom occasions. They notched up 43 runs inside the powerplay and stuck a 65-runs opening stand. A few wickets fell which included both the openers, but it was Rassie van der Dussen who hung around at one end.

Dussen struggled to time the ball and seemed in terrible touch. But he managed to tinker around with Sam Curran oozing a quick cameo. The all-rounder smacked 11 runs from the 7 balls he faced and managed to take the side over the line.

Earlier, MI Cape Town won the toss and elected to bowl first. A top order full of international exposure failed to deliver successively for the Joburg Super Kings. They lost their first wicket at 25 in the form of Reeza Hendricks, and soon followed Janeman Malan, Kyle Verreynne, and Faf du Plessis. Leus du Plooy ate up balls looking to ease the pressure and eventually, sustained more pressure. Wickets kept on tumbling on regular occasions and a last-wicket partnership of 21 runs helped the Super Kings go past the 100 runs mark.

Spinner George Linde opened the bowling attack with Sam Curran today. Kagiso Rabada was the most economical bowler conceding just 12 runs off his full quota and bagging two wickets. George Linde, Rashid Khan, and Odean Smith extracted the same number of wickets as well.

Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony.
16.2 R Shepherd to S Curran
4 FOURRRR!! And that is it!! Here come the winning runs for the MI Cape Town!! Back of a length delivery outside the off. This one angles into the left-hander but Curran had the width to waft it uppishly in the gaps between long-off and deep extra cover. An emphatic win for the Cape Town-based franchise and they win the game with 7 wickets in hand.
16.1 R Shepherd to S Curran
0 Length and slow wide outside the off. Curran is early on the whack and gets the thickish underedge back to the turf. Romario follows up and collects the ball.
