That is it from the season opener! A great entertainer ends in the court of Bangla Tigers. It was an honour to bring this to you live as I, AkshayaKrishna Polya, sign off on behalf of my co-commentator, Ayan Chatterjee, and scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. Stay tuned with us for matches around the globe. For now, it is a goodbye from us!
Evin Lewis | Player of the Match: "I think it was a pretty good wicket. There wasn't a huge amount of time to get settled down, but I just went with my normal business as I struck a few strokes. It is the nature of the game that allows us to play the way we want. Yeah, happy with the result."
Power Hitter of the Match Award goes to Evin Lewis.
Magic Moment of the Match Award goes to Jordan Thompson.
Rohan Mustafa: "First of all thanks to Allah. Great performance and a great start to the tournament. I mean 130+ target is challenging and the bowlers stuck to their task and bowled great yorkers. The bowlers were good and the fielders were great to keep things tight and in the end, got us the win. Plenty to take going forward."
9:35 PM IST | And that is it from the first game of the new season in the Abu Dhabi T10 as Bangla Tigers shatter New York Strikers by 19 runs, thanks to an all-rounder team performance!

As expected, the season opener in the Abu Dhabi T10 was a high-scoring thriller. It was New York Strikers who won the toss and invited the Bangla Tigers to bat first. While one of the openers, Hazratullah Zazai, lost his wicket early in the mix, the other opener, Evin Lewis, took the bowlers to the cleaners with his blistering knock of 58 from 22 deliveries, including 2 fours and 7 sixes.

Lewis, alongside Colin Munro (30 off 17), added 63 runs for the third wicket. While Munro was out in the 6th over, Lewis was dismissed in the 9th over. In the end, it was Ben Cutting (11* off 6) and Shakib Al Hasan (14* off 6) who played a small cameo to help the side post a total of 131/5 in their allotted 10 overs.

For the Strikers, it was Wahab Riaz and Ravi Rampaul with a couple of wickets each, while one more scalp went into the column of Jordan Thomson.

Chasing the big total, New York Strikers couldn’t really get going as their openers, Paul Stirling and Muhammed Waseem, didn’t give the team the start they needed. While Azam Khan tried to smoke a few and scored a quick 34 off 13 balls, Eoin Morgan, Romario Shepherd, and Jordan Thompson failed to stay in the crease.

In the end, Kieron Pollard (45* off 19) played a lone-handed swashbuckler, but the target was way too big to get it chased down single-handedly. Pollard's knock took them to 112/8 in their allotted 10 overs. But that wasn't enough to get the points, as Bangla Tigers enjoyed a great start.

For the Tigers, Shakib Al Hasan was brilliant in his full quota, giving away just 7 runs and picking the wicket of Waseem. While Rohan Mustafa and Matheesha Pathirana picked a couple of wickets each, Benny Howell picked one wicket. A couple of run-outs, in the end, defined the awful night for the losing side.

Stay tuned for the presentations!

9.6 J Ball to K Pollard
0 Last ball of the innings. Length ball here, Pollard looks to go for the big one and gets the height and not the distance. Shakib comes underneath it and drops the catch. It won't matter here as the Tigers notch up a 19-run win to kickstart their campaign.
Run out check at the bowler's end. Replays come in, and it is out.
9.5 J Ball to K Pollard
1W WICKET!Slower ball into the gap here, Pollard swings it away to the deep midwicket region and they try to go back for the second run and will lose a wicket. Wahab Riaz does not make his ground at the bowler's end. Another one falls as the 8th wicket falls for 112 here.
9.4 J Ball to K Pollard
0 Nails in the wide yorker, Pollard steers it down to the point fielder.
9.3 J Ball to K Pollard
6 SIX! A bit too late in the game. Short of a length here, Pollard picks it and pulls it away over the square leg region as the ball sails into the stands for the maximum. Can Pollard get to his 50 here?
9.2 J Ball to K Pollard
0 A dot ball here and this is surely the game now.  Slower ball around off, Pollard swings it down to the midwicket region and won't take a single here.
9.1 J Ball to W Riaz
1b Jake Ball will bowl the final over of the match.  A low full toss outside off, Riaz misses it to the keeper as they scamper through for a bye.

4 FOUR!  Fuller length angling into the pads, Pollard flicks it away through the fine leg region as the ball races away to the fine leg fence to end the over. But he is off strike for the final over of the game.
