Another domestic final and Another Mumbai win! A better team won in the end, and it is a wrap of the tournament for the season 2022. For now, we also wrap things off here in the commentary box. This is me, AkshayaKrishna Polya, who is signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Arijit Kundu and Ajay Ahire and scorers/analysts Vishnu Verma and Paras Yadav, brought you all the live-action of this mouth-watering finale. We will meet in the next match. Until then, it is goodbye!
Ajinkya Rahane receives the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and now the whole team posses for the photographs. The party begins here in Kolkata, and it will go on for weeks.
Ajinkya Rahane (Mumbai Captain): "Yes, first of all, I would like to say that HP is doing really well. Since the last few seasons, they are really doing well. It's great to say new teams coming up. Everyone contributed. Tanush the way he bowled and then the last few hits with the bat.

It is all about the mindset. Cricket has changed drastically, so for us, it is all about the process. We went to Ahmedabad and played a few practice games. Credits to our support staff as well, Amol and others have been great.

Look, supportstaff has been great, working hard really well, and not just with the squad, but also whoever is with us. The guys who didn't played, I think they also have a good thing to play, the communication especially."
Rishi Dhawan (Himachal Pradesh Captain): "Yeah, I mean, they all did a great job, They did my job way easier in the field. They have been playing around for three years. Obviously, in the final, the pressure is always on the chasing side. We played really well. In Eden Gardens, it always asks for pacers, and hence we have played 4 pacers. It happens in cricket that one over changes the game. So we are not at all disappointed with the loss.

We have Vijay Hazare coming up, and we need to be ready for the new challenge. There was a discussion about whether Abhinay or I will bowl the 19th over. In the end, I trusted Abhinay because he had bowled really well in the whole tournament. So, I went with him. Today he couldn't really execute in the 19th over. But he has given his heart out tonight as well. It happens in T20s, where you will have a bad day. No disappointments as we are still going through our process to become a better team."
Tanush Kotian is the Player of the Match.
Tanush Kotian: "Yes there was pressure but I was ready with my plans and was sure of what I was doing. Sarfaraz was giving me a lot of confidence in the end as he backed me to hit big shots and that helped me a lot in the end."
Sarfaraz Khan: "We were very disappointed previously after losing in SMAT. This time we were very much determined that the title should not slip from our hands."
8:03 PM IST | It is Tanush Kotian with the ball and with the bat as well as he finishes things off in style with a six-over deep fine leg! Mumbai won by 3 wickets in a last-over thriller and lifted Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022 and lift this title for the first time in their history!

Earlier in the match, Mumbai won the toss and opt to bowl first. And the Mumbai bowlers proved the decision from their skipper was right as they reduced Himachal Pradesh to 20/2 inside 4 overs. A 31-run partnership for the third wicket between Prashant Chopra (19 off 27) and Nikhil Gangta (22 off 14) did steady the ship for a while, but a collapse initiated by Tanush Kotian meant that a flurry of wickets fell in the middle overs dented Himachal’s comeback.

At one stage, Himachal Pradesh were at 58/6 after 9.4 overs, and it was thought that the innings would fall over in a quick time. A valiant effort with the bat by Ekant Sen (37 off 29) and Akash Vasisht (25 off 22) led the lion-hearted come back yet again. This seventh-wicket partnership of 60 runs was broken by Aman Khan in the 18th over. In the next over, Ekant Sen fell in the bowling of Mohit Avasthi, who started the downfall earlier in the innings. A couple of lusty blows struck by Mayank Dagar (21* off 12) in the last few overs helped the team to post 143/8 in their allotted 20 overs.

For Mumbai, Mohith Avasthi (4-0-21-3) and Tanush Kotian (4-0-15-3) picked three wickets each, while Aman Khan (2-0-24-1) and Shivam Dube (2-0-16-1) picked a wicket each.

Chasing 144 to win the trophy, Mumbai didn’t get a good start as they lost both of their openers, Prithvi Shaw (11 off 8) and Ajinkya Rahane (1 off 5), to Himachal’s captain Rishi Dhawan within the powerplay. Yashasvi Jaiswal (27 off 28) and Shreyas Iyer (34 off 26) added 41 runs to the third wicket, and it was Mayank Dagar who broke this stand in the 10th over.

Shreyas continued his good work and, alongside Sarfaraz Khan, stitched 27 runs for the fourth wicket. But Vaibhav Arora took care of the dangerous Shreyas Iyer in the 14th over. And then Vaibhav Arora continued his wonderful bowling in his next over by scalping Shivam Dube (7 off 9) and Aman Khan (6 off 2) in the same over.

While Shams Mulani (2 off 3) failed to deliver, Himachal Pradesh dropped Sarfaraz Khan's catch in the 18th over, which was the turning point in this finale. This went on to haunt the Rishi Dhawan-led side as Sarfaraz played a blinder of a knock to take his team closer to the winning margin. And it was Tanush Kotian (9* off 5) who finished the match with a six and celebrated the victory with his batting partner Sarfaraz Khan (36* off 31).

For Himachal Pradesh, Vaibhav Arora (4-0-27-3) scalped three wickets, while Rishi Dhawan (3.3-0-26-2) and Mayank Dagar (4-0-24-2) picked two wickets.

Congratulations to Mumbai for their achievement, but Himachal Pradesh played really well.

Stay tuned for the presentations!
19.3 R Dhawan to T Kotian
6 SIXXXXXXX!! Short of a length outside the off, and Kotian pulls this over the deep square leg region for a maximum. What a way to finish the game and it's Tanush Kotian who takes Mumbai to their first-ever Syed Mushtaq Ali Title🏆. Not the correct line to bowl and Kotian shuts down his nerves to swivel a pull. There was a bit of heat of the moment between Sarfaraz and a few other players of Himachal. In the end, all ends with a handshake.
4 balls left and 4 runs needed! Can Dhawan pull it off?
19.2 R Dhawan to T Kotian
0 Excellent bowling from Rishi, short and wide outside the off, and Kotian swings hard and misses. Not a wide!!
19.1 R Dhawan to T Kotian
2 Back of a length delivery from Rishi and Kotian waits for it and pulls it in front of square for a couple of runs in the deep. The fielder there fails to grab the ball and fumbles. Therefore a double taken!! 4 runs needed to win from 5 balls.
Mumbai need 6 off 6 now! Dropping Sarfaraz meant that it cost them this finale! Rishi Dhawan will bowl this final over.

4 FOURRRR!! Full and wide outside the off now and Khan jams the bat with stretched arms towards the line of the ball. The ball rocks at the outside edge of the blade and flows past the right-hand side of the keeper. Very witty from Khan as he knew that the 3rd man fielder wasn't in his original position.
A crucial blow from Sarfaraz Khan!
18.5 Singh to S Khan
6 SIXXXXX!! It isn't over for Mumbai as long as Sarfaraz is there!!👀 Full, slow and wide outside the off, Sarfaraz weighs a tad back and front , and lofts this with extended arms over the wide of the long off region for a maximum. 10 runs needed from 7 balls.
18.4 Singh to T Kotian
1 Full and wide outside the off, Kotian slices this along the ground for a single to deep point.
Team Doctor, Deepak is here, checking on Sarfaraz.
