That’s a wrap from our side as well. The Colombo Stars will face Jaffna Kings in the final of LPL 2022 tomorrow. We appreciate your participation from all across the world. On behalf of my co-commentator Megh Mandaliya and Scorer/Analyst Paras Yadav, I, Deepak Prakash, am signing off. Please join us for the other fixtures across the world. Until then, Ta-Ta, Bye-Bye.✌✌
Angelo Mathews( Colombo Stars Captain): " The way the team fought back is commendable. Playing from last night and today is demanding on both your mind and body. After winning the toss, they were unsure of what to do. decided to bowl really late. Rajitha got the game off with a bang by getting off to an excellent start. The opposition is stopped in their tracks with two wickets in the opening over. Regards to Chandimal and Charith in particular. They provided us with a fairly solid foundation at the top."
Wanindu Hasaranga (Kandy Falcons Captain): "We lost a few wickets in the powerplay but the fielding was really poor from our side today. We cannot afford to drop catches like this. I tried to bat long and that eventually worked out.”
Kasun Rajitha (Player of the match): " I am extremely pleased with what I have done in this tournament."
Kasun Rajitha has been awarded the player of the match for his 4/20.
It's time for the post-match presentations.
10:57 PM IST | The Angelo Mathews-led Colombo Stars have overpowered Kandy Falcons by 6 wickets in Qualifier 2 and will pair with the two-time champions Jaffna Kings for the Lanka Premier League 2022 Final.

I
n pursuit of a competitive total of 169, Colombo was off to a sedate start by losing Nishan Madushka 11(8) in the second over but it was the unhurried approach of Dinesh Chandimal and Charith Asalanka that captured 47 in the powerplay for Colombo.

Wanindu Hasaranga marked his run-up in the 7th over eyeing a breakthrough, but instead, he was thwarted for 11 runs by the left-right duo of Asalanka and Chandimal and since then, Kandy was tottering for a comeback.

While Colombo was cruising towards a victory, Kamindu Mendis broke the 90-run partnership between the duo as Chandimal departed for 38(33). Soon after Asalanka brought up his half-century before throwing his wicket away at 64(40), including 7 fours and 3 maximums.

To fan the flames, Mendis got another breakthrough of Dominic Drakes 2(4) and poised the game at even standards. Colombo required 30 off the last three overs before experienced campaigners Ravi Bopara 29(16) and Angelo Mathews 21(13) swatted 20 of Wanindu Hasaranga’s over and took away the scant chance Falcons had.

Earlier in the day, after being invited to bat first, Kandy Falcons were off to a penurious start by losing both their openers in the first over in a similar way. Ashen Bandara, who was dropped on 0 in the first over, then joined forces with Kamindu Mendis and bestowed Kandy a brief period of respite as the left-right duo stitched a 40-run partnership before Mendis departed 23(29) attempting a paddle sweep.

Captain Wanindu Hasaranga, the next man in, demonstrated his pyrotechnic abilities by chalking up his first LPL half-century and a captaincy knock of 77(34), including 8 fours and 3 maximums from Wanindu took the scorecard to 168/6.

Kasun Rajitha exploited the surface by utilizing the slower ones effectively and was the pick of the bowlers for Colombo as he claimed 4 wickets by giving away just 20 runs. Dominic Drakes and Mohammad Nabi also grabbed a scalp each.

Stick around for the post-match presentation!
