That brings an end to our coverage for this game. Do join us tomorrow for more cricketing action all around the globe. For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Ninaad Dixit and scorer Paras Yadav. Bye Bye. Good Night.
Angelo Mathews (Colombo Stars Skipper): "We live another day for another fight. It was a tricky wicket to bat on. It swung early on. Suranga and Kasun bowled brilliantly upfront and Nabi was brilliant with the wet ball. We tried to run hard and get set by playing a few balls. It was not easy to score on. The Falcons are a dangerous team and we will have to step up tomorrow. Give yourself a chance and hope for the best."
Kusal Mendis (Galle Gladiators Captain): "I think it was hard to play with a bit of moisture earlier in the innings. We lost a couple of early wickets which was the reason. 140-130 was a very good score on this pitch. Their bowlers did really well in the last 3 games. Arachchige played his first game and did very well. Very good tournament, young boys doing really well."
Ravi Bopara (Player of the Match): "I had a good run against those guys. When you play T20, you get one team that you score against. There were tense moments. Angelo said to take time to settle in and take it deep because it was going to be difficult to bat for the new batters. We have a good game tomorrow and hopefully we will perform tomorrow."
Ravi Bopara is named the Player of the Match.
Akshay | 11:42 PM IST: That’s it. A solid all-round effort from the Colombo Stars see them beat the Galle Gladiators by seven wickets to stay alive in the competition. They knock the Gladiators out of the Lanka Premier League 2022 and will now face the Kandy Falcons in the second qualifier tomorrow.

Chasing 109, the Stars got off to a steady start. Dinesh Chandimal fell on 13 to Nuwan Pradeep in the third over. Charith Asalanka joined Nishan Madushka who was struggling for timing. Both struggled to get going as the Gladiators bowled well in the middle phase. Asalanka was run out on 10 and Madushka departed on a 27-ball 13.

Ravi Bopara joined hands with Angelo Mathews and started building a partnership. Both kept the scoreboard ticking and found odd boundaries. They kept the required run rate under control. Bopara and Mathews remained unbeaten on 43 and 20 to take their side across the line in the penultimate over. The Gladiators picked up three wickets in total but it wasn’t enough as they failed to defend the total. As a result, they get eliminated from the competition.

It was a delayed start to this fixture due to rain and it was reduced to 18 overs per side. After being asked to bat first, the Gladiators’ batters failed to adapt to the conditions as they lost their top-order for single-digit scores. Sahan Arachchige who was playing his first game in this edition stood tall against the Stars and held the innings nicely from one end.

The Gladiators kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Arachchige looked good and played some beautiful strokes. He brought up his fifty off just 30 balls but fell on the very next ball. Imad Wasim scored 17 lower down the order as the Gladiators finished their innings on 108/9. Benny Howell picked up three wickets for the Stars. Kasun Rajitha bowled brilliantly and finished with figures of 2/9 in his four overs which included a maiden. Mohammad Nabi also chipped in with two scalps. Their batters then contributed to chase down the total with seven balls to spare. Stick around for the post-match presentation.
