Angelo Mathews(Skipper Colombo Stars): "I viewed having to lower myself to the center as a blessing in disguise. Sadly, we ultimately failed to complete the task. We simply lost too many wickets early on. In the last couple of overs, we were in control but they had some good bowlers."
James Fuller: "The game looked like dead in the 10 overs. We took wickets and restricted them maybe around 50. They did really well to bring the game back to life. Angelo, Benny and Drakes. We just tried to stick to the plan till the end. Simple plan taking the pace off the ball and then the odd faster one. I was bowling to my good mate Benny Howell so that's what I was thinking when I was running in to bowl. First ball I managed to take a little bit of pace off so it stuck on the wicket. I started the over well and tried to do the same throughout trying to take the pace off the ball but Angelo absolutely smashed two bringing the game back to life again. I tried to bowl the yorker in the end but it was very dewy and the ball was getting very wet so it became hard to execute and I ended up bowling in the slot."

11:19 PM IST | Deepak: A game full of entertainment for cricket enthusiasts. Angelo Mathews and Benny Howell almost pulled this game but in the end, they just falls short by 6 runs. A swashbuckling inning from skipper Mathews and Benny Howell. Jaffna Kings thumped the Colombo Stars by 6 runs.
Earlier, after being invited to bat first, Lyca’s Jaffna Kings scored 1️⃣7️⃣8️⃣ runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. Shoaib Malik was the top scorer for the Kings, as he amassed 34 runs off 25 balls. On the flip side, Benny Howell was the pick of the bowlers for the Stars as he scalped a couple of wickets, giving away 37 runs in 4 overs.
The Colombo Stars' response to 178 runs got off to the worst possible start as they lost a couple of wickets in two overs. Niroshan Dickwella departed without opening his account on this occasion. The Colombo Stars kept losing wickets at regular intervals, as they were struggling at 67 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 12.2 overs.
Benny Howell and skipper Mathews started batting at top gear after the 14th over and started to score quickly. The pair forged a quick 50-run partnership on the occasion. It was 22 runs needed in the last over, and Benny Howell departed after scoring a brisk 43 runs off 20 balls. Skipper Angelo Mathews smashed a couple of sixes in the final over, but his team falls short by six runs. Skipper Mathews remained unbeaten with 73 runs off 38 balls.
On the other hand, James Fuller and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth scalped a couple of wickets each for Jaffna Kings. Perera, Theekshana, and Fernando shared one wicket each.

6 SIX!! Mishit but gets the distance! This is why Angelo Mathews wanted the strike. Short of length outside the off stump. Mathews shuffles across, gets deep in the crease and swings hard using the forehand. Loses the grip off one hand but still manages to clear the straighter boundary.

1 Short and wide outside the off stump. Rajitha pulls hard in the off side and finds the gap between the 2 fielders at deep midwicket and long on. Wants the second but is sent back by Mathews who wants the strike.

Howell pulls but plays it a bit early misjudging the lack of pace. Pulls it in the air and straight down the throat of Malik at deep midwicket. A great knock comes to an end.
