1:43 AM IST | Well that's all for today folks! West Indies clinch an away T20I series victory in South Africa after 8 years! This is Anirudh Modi, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ninaad Dixit and our scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyyer! See you on the next one!
Rovman Powell collects the trophy on behalf of his team and let the celebrations begin!
Rovman Powell | West Indies Captain: "The boys were disappointed after the last game, but we took positives and we responded well in this game. Alzarri coming back and taking those wickets was really good to see. As a new international captain, it's for me to push the team in the right direction, be aggressive, be natural but you also have to be smart about it. We knew that 250 was a very rare game, we knew if we got 200-220 we got a chance and if we could early wickets and put them under pressure we were on our way. It's a mix of both, for a 200 you need to have a good start and Mayers and King have been doing that all series along with Charles, and also we bat deep and the bowlers were excellent too. A lot of credit has to be given to Alzarri Joseph. We wanted to go back to Cottrell, but we know in our team and who can bowl the correct balls. It was a toss up between me, Mayers and Reifer."
Johnston Charles | Player of the Series: "To come back after 6 years and win the Player of the Series and to win a T20I series in South Africa after 8 years is always a nice feeling. You never know when you are going to be called and when you are called upon you have to be ready. I've just managed to work on my basics and keeping my shoulders as long as possible, keeping my base strong and just the basics. Yes I'm going to take this centurion back to the Caribbean."
Alzarri Joseph | Player of the Match: "Yeah it is, we made a good total and it's upto the bowlers to defend it. It's always good to have the captain's confidence, being the leader of the pack and attack the opposition. It's been a long tour, it's just about me and the staff and where the management are. Yes I enjoy doing, they give me the responsibility to lead the pack and that's what I enjoy."
Aiden Markram | South Africa Captain: "It was a good game for the neutral viewers. We had a good start but we fell a few runs short today, the ball was flying once again and they managed to execute the skills a lot better tonight. There was a stage where we wanted to wrap it up under 170 but anything over 200 was a huge target. Ultimately each person will know how they could have benefitted the team in any way. We are on the right course and it's good to know that the boys are responding well. There is really a lesson for myself that to always keep trying and keep taking wickets and win the games more. Thoroughly enjoyed this role, challenging at times but the team and I are on a journey."
1:32 AM IST | Time for the post match presentation ceremony.
1:19 AM IST | AND WITH THAT WEST INDIES WON THIS THRILLING 3 MATCH T20I SERIES 2-1! They defeat a disappointed South Africa by 7 runs on their home soil to claim the series victory! Excellent boost of confidence for them ahead of the World Cup in 2024!

South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl first, the decision backfired as the West Indian openers got off to a fast start. The duo of Brandon King and Kyle Mayers smashed their way to a 39 run opening stand in just 3.2 overs before Rabada knocked off the bails off first Mayers and then Charles for a golden duck!

Post that it was the Nicholas Pooran show, the Southpaw blasted 41 runs off 19 balls as wickets kept tumbling around him in regular intervals. Thanks to Romario Shepherd's late innings demolition which included 26 runs in the last over ensured West Indies posted a monster total of 220/8 from their 20 overs.

Come the chase, and it was the West Indies again who got off to a great start with just a single run coming off the first over. Post that Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks started the runs flow before Rossouw replaced Quinton to stitch together a quick fire 80 run-stand to keep South Africa in the game.

Hendricks went onto score a brilliant 83 runs off 44 balls but ultimately his knock and Markram's late innings unbeaten cameo failed to take South Africa over the line as Alzarri Joseph's 3-wicket over knocked the stuffing out of the Proteas. The West Indian pacer claimed his first ever 5-fer in T20Is to down South Africa on home soil and bring home the trophy for his team!

This has been a high intensity, record-breaking T20I series with some pretty high scoring encounters. West Indies will be delighted with this victory away from home and it will be steer them into the right direction ahead of the 2024 World Cup! While South Africa will be disheartened as they played well and went pound for pound in the run scoring charts!

Stay Tuned for the post match ceremony!
