So that's a wrap from the second ODI match of the series between South Africa and West Indies. The latter cannot lose this series from here. They lead by 1-0 with the first ODI washed out to the rain. Join us for cricketing action around the world.

For now, this is me AkshayaKrishna Polya signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Arijit Kundu and Ninaad Dixit, who, alongside our scorer/analyst Yogesh Kumar brought you all the live action of this mouth-watering contest. We will meet in the next match. Until then, it's cheers!
Shai Hope (West Indies Captain and Player of the Match): "It was a good game in the end. Yeah, I think it was a pretty good one for us. As they say, catches win matches, but we did drop a few which put us in a difficult position for a while. We will be hoping to continue the same. Yeah, it was a tough track to start the innings. But once you get set you will know the pace of the surface. You need to play the situation. It was all about pressure handling. You need to know that skill. The way South Africa were going, it was important to take wickets at regular intervals and also finish the game well."
Temba Bavuma (South Africa Captain): "Lungi did understand his role over there. We just said to each other you never know what can happen. I said if you see a run then take it. If we had restricted them to around 300 considering we took some early wickets upfront, then it would have been a better target. But that being said, we can take a lot of learnings, we are a young and inexperienced side. Could be important for the guys to learn those special situations.

There is nowhere else to learn about international cricket. Unfortunately the guys are not gonna learn that in domestic cricket so the coach and I have identified a couple of young guys that we see will take South African cricket forward in the future. This is a valuable experience for them like I said. Its all about them learning as quickly as they can so they can get accustomed to the challenges and pressures of this level.

The ball before I went out, I said to Lungi if we can get 2 overs of 15 runs and over then we can really send them in panic. Obviously got out trying after that ball but we kept believing, we tried to take it ball by ball and we tried to get as close as we could.

Guys like Anrich, Klaasen and Miller all of them come back into the squad so they will be in contention for the game in Potch."
12:36 AM IST | Time for post-match presentations!

12:32 AM IST | Arriving to chase a target of 336 runs Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma gave a rollicking start to the Windies. De Kock took on the pacers with Bavuma showing his grace. The wicketkeeper batter was dismissed by Kyle Mayers leg before wicket Ryan Rickelton who arrived one-down followed with a brisk partnership alongside Bavuma.

Tony de Zorzi, the other debutant of the day helped the Proteas to keep the scorecard ticking, knitting 61 runs together for the third-wicket partnership. Akeal Hosein came and dominated the middle phases, breaking the spine of the home side’s batting. Rassie van der Dussen departed soon and wickets fell like nine pins. It was Alzarri Joseph and Odean Smith who assisted Hosein from the other end and helped to apply brakes.

The Proteas skipper was the lone warrior at one end and continued to steer till the end until he was undone by a short ball from Joseph at the 42nd over. Bavuma (144 from 118) continued his dream run from the red ball format and notched up this third century of the calendar year. With more than 8 overs left in the bag, the Windies successfully bundled up South Africa for 287.

For the Proteas, there were brisk partnerships in the middle but the Windies bowlers got the better of them. Akeal Hosein and Alzarri Joseph snapped three wickets each. Kyle Mayers, Yannic Cariah, and Odean Smith bagged a wicket.

Earlier in the match, West Indies won the toss and opted to bat first. Openers Kyle Mayers and Brandon King got the team off to a good start, putting on 67 runs for the first wicket. Pacers started the proceedings for the Proteas, and the partnership was shattered when spinner Bjorn Fortuin was introduced. He got Mayers out in the ninth over and then got the other opener out in the next over. In the interim, Gerald Coetzee removed Shamarh Brooks. West Indies were suddenly put on the back foot and reduced to 71-3. Following this, a strong partnership was formed between the skipper Shai Hope, and Nicholas Pooran, who rose to the occasion. They aggregated 86 runs for the fourth wicket.

Pooran was smashing them, but his innings came to an end in the 24th over when Coetzee got his second wicket. Then Hope was joined by Rovman Powell, and the pair put on 80 runs for the fifth wicket to put pressure on the hosts. Powell was tonking the bowlers around the park, but he, too, was bowled out in the 38th over by the impressive debutant Coetzee.

The West Indian ODI captain kept his good day on the field going by pouncing on anything loose. He and Jason Holder added 42 runs for the sixth wicket. However, between the 45th and 47th overs, three wickets fell in the span of three overs.

At the other end, Hope ran wild and amassed an impressive hundred. He was unbeaten on 128 off 115 deliveries and finished the batting side off nicely as they posted 335/8 in their allotted 50 overs. Hope received valuable assistance from Alzarri Joseph, who made a brief appearance on the other end.

Apart from Lungi Ngidi, everyone who bowled for South Africa took wickets. Gerald Coetzee took three wickets, while Bjorn Fortuin and Tabraiz Shamsi each took two wickets. Marco Jansen took a wicket despite going for a lot of runs in his 10 overs.

Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony...
12:25 AM IST | And with that, the record at Buffalo Park of successful run chases remains intact with Sri Lanka which they did way back in 1994 hunting down 257 runs against South Africa. West Indies defend 336 runs and win the match by 48 runs. Their bowlers did a commendable job amidst Temba Bavuma's masterclass!
41.4 A Joseph to T Shamsi
W Edged and taken!! That's the end of this game! West Indies win by 48 runs and go 1-0 up in the series. Length delivery outside the off stump, angled away from the right hander. Shamsi looks to drive but gets a very thin edge through to the keeper. A half hearted appeal for caught behind and the finger is raised! No footwork from Shamsi and he has to depart. South Africa's resistance ends.
41.3 A Joseph to T Shamsi
0 Short and outside the off stump, Shamsi drops his hands and allows the ball to pass through. Takes his eyes off the ball.
