So, India ends the league stages on a high after a loss against England Women in their previous game. They beat Ireland Women by 5 runs (DLS method) and gush into the Semi-Final. So, that is it from the contest. Signing off,. Arijit Kundu alongside co-commentator, Deepak Prakash and scorer Yogesh Kumar. Stay tuned for much more cricketing action across our network.
Harmanpreet Kaur (India Women Captain): " We had a good game. Smriti was good with the bat today, which is crucial for us. Every time she gives us a start, we reach a successful total. As I don't really have that, I just wanted to go up and spend some time in the middle. Producing the semis means a lot since we put in a lot of effort and want to succeed whenever we have the chance. It's good to go to the semifinals, and we'll give it our all. We always look forward to playing them (Australia). We want to play free cricket because it will be a do-or-die for both sides."
Laura Delany (Ireland Captain): "We were really prepared for it. We tried to get the partnership. At times we have shown what we are capable of. I think it was a very positive experience. Yeah, it was really good beating Australia in the warm-up. I think Orla Prendergast was amazing, going from game to game. Thanks Lisa."
Smriti Mandhana (Player of the match): "The finger is fine. One of the hardest innings I've ever played. Not the pitch, but the speed at which they were bowling, and the wind made matters worse. (Discussion with Shafali) We were encouraging one another to keep up our fitness. She wasn't timing it well, and I was hitting poorly. But as we were attempting to talk about that, there was a lot of wind, and we had to adjust to how quickly they were bowling. It's good to record some runs and go to the semifinals. We didn't get the England game we wanted."
9:50 PM IST | An unlikely end to Ireland's campaign in the 2023 Women's World Cup as the rain continues to pour. India were five runs ahead as per the DLS score and eventually, wins the game. They fetch two crucial points and are qualified for the semi-finals. Ireland were well in the game with Gaby Lewis and Laura Delany at either end of the crease.

Ireland suffered early jolts in the form of Amy Hunter and Orla Prendergast. The former was dismissed in the form of a run-out and the latter was cleaned up in the first over itself by Renuka Singh Thakur.

Gaby and Delany glued 53 runs together before the showers played the spoilsport. Both batters whacked Deepti Sharma in her only over and didn't spare on the looseners. Plenty of positives in the end for Ireland and they would like to take them along.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, India posted a total of 155 on the back of a swashbuckling knock from Smriti Mandhana (87 off 56 balls). Shafali Verma assisted the southpaw throughout the powerplay and almost halfway through the innings. Smriti looked scratchy initially and at least four of her catches were dropped.

There was a sudden fall of quick wickets in the middle with Richa Ghosh following Harmanpreet Kaur in the same over against skipper Delany. Jemimah boosted the tally. She scored quick 19 runs off 12 balls and got out in the end. Laura Delany scalped three wickets and Orla Prendergast bagged two wickets.

The breeze played a huge impact on the game. From blowing the zing bails to dismantling the boundary ropes. In the end, the rain squeezed in and assisted India to make it through to the Knockout rounds.
9:48 PM IST | The match has been abandoned. India win the game by 5 runs (DLS method).
It is difficult for the ground to get dried up even if the rain stops.
9:38 PM IST | We have already started to lose over since 15 minutes from now (approx). The cut-off time is 10:03 PM IST (6:33 PM local time).
9:32 PM IST: Nothing to update as it is still raining here at St George's Park, Gqeberha. Stay tuned with us for the latest update.
8:50 PM IST: The rain is getting heavier now and the umpire calls for cover. Ireland are 5 runs behind the DLS par score. The groundsmen are struggling to cover the pitch due to the heavy breeze.
