Player Bio

Touted to be Ireland's batting hope, Gaby Lewis is an opening batter and a part-time leg-break bowler, who is known for being a mentally and physically aggressive athlete. Cricket runs in Lewis’ blood as both her grandfather and father have served the game, while she and her sister are also representing Ireland on the world stage.

Born in a cricketing family, her affair with the game was never a question. As a three-year-old, Gaby used to visit the YMCA cricket club, which her grandfather and father were members of. She gripped the bat at a very young age and used to play with the boys which led to the habit of playing the faster bowlers with ease. In no time, she grabbed the attention of selectors and was selected for the Emerging Players Squad in 2013.

The Dublin-born was first called up to Ireland's senior team in 2014, playing five matches against English counties in the ECB Women's Twenty20 Cup. She made her international debut during the three-match T20I series against South Africa. Two years later, the prodigy made her ODI debut against the same opposition. However, her highlight came in 2018, when she scored her maiden half-century against New Zealand.

Gaby is still young but her talent is no less than anyone. And with Ireland starting to get their due opportunities, now, Gaby has all the ingredients to become a global superstar, in the coming times.
