The wicket was pretty good to bat on as compared to the last game. We believed that we could chase down the total. We need to stand in front of the mirror and have hard conversations.
We have to move on. We need to step away and take some time away from the game. It's hard but we have to bounce back. We have to find positives from it. Carson was very good tonight. She stepped up and bowled hard overs."

1:25 PM IST | Deepak: The Proteas women earn a well-deserved standing ovation from the enthusiastic crowd, as they made a strong comeback from their earlier defeat and hammered White Ferns by a whopping 65 runs.🎉 White Ferns were bundled out for just 67 runs which is the lowest score in the T20 World Cups.
Earlier after electing to bat first, South Africa started on a lackluster note as they were reeling at 55/4 in the 9th over but Chloe Tryon and Nadine de Klerk reconstructed their innings and helped the Proteas to post a formidable 132 runs in 20 overs. Chloe Tryon amassed 40 runs, while Nadine de Klerk remained unbeaten on 28 runs. From the bowling front, Eden Carson and Lea Tahuhu extracted a couple of wickets each for White Ferns and restricted the hosts to 132 runs.
In pursuit of Proteas’ 132 runs total New Zealand got off to the worst possible start as they lost their top four batters in the powerplay and were reeling at 18/4 in the 5th over. Both their openers Bernadine Bezuidenhout and Suzie Bates even failed to open their account and left White Ferns in a precarious situation. On the flip side, Proteas bowlers gave a daunting challenge to White Ferns and it was the first time in the World Cup that Proteas bowlers extracted four wickets in the powerplay.
