That’s a wrap from our side as well. We trust you relished our coverage. For now, this is Saipavan Janaki and signing off on behalf of my esteemed co-commentator, Deepak Prakash, and our diligent scorer/analyst, Bishal Mandal, I bid you a hearty CHEERS!
Heather Knight (England Women Captain): "Yeah, really pleased. I think it was a good toss to win. It was about a bit earlier. I think the way the bowlers bowled and made the most of it was outstanding. I think Kate Cross will go to the radar, I think she's back to her best today and really to put in the Mahika and Mahika obviously bowled some pretty magic balls. She's a really exciting prospect, so really pleased for her. So, yeah, really nice to get back to winning ways and onto the next game.

Yeah, it's really pleasing. Obviously, it's quite rare to have three debutants and all of them were very good. [Speaking about rotation] We've got a big squad and Mahika is 17 as well you've got to remember that so we've got to look after her."

Chamari Athapaththu (Sri Lanka Women Captain): "Actually today is a tough day in the office, T20 is different, and this format is different. Mahika and Cross bowled well in the first 10 overs. We all know we need 250-260 runs for this type of wicket but we struggled.
Actually, we have to talk about the positive things and we have to improve batting and patience is important for this wicket. My unit is well and hope will come back stronger. We have good positive things as a bowling unit and we carry this bowling."
Mahika Gaur (Player of the match): "Yeah, thank you very much. It was great. It was a great day. Really enjoyed myself out there and good to get a win as well. I think it's about just following on your best bowl for longer. I've not played much 50 over cricket, but I think there's more in it for the bowlers because obviously, they're not going as hard at you. So, yeah, it doesn't really change much. Just got to do the same thing for longer.

I think I've had that conversation with the coaches, with Heather before, just regarding field stuff, and I think the main thing that they've told me is just to keep doing what I'm best at, which is just trying to swing it back in."
07.25 PM IST, 02.55 PM Local Time | Saipavan Janaki: England Women played really well today. They were great in both bowling and batting and as a result, they beat Sri Lanka Women by 7 wickets. This win gives them a 1-0 lead in the series.

Earlier, England Women won the toss and invited Sri Lanka Women to bat first. Sri Lanka Women's opening duo of Anushka Sanjeewani (5 off 20) and Chamari Athapaththu (10 off 17) initially adopted a cautious approach during the first five overs to find their rhythm. However, their efforts were curtailed by debutant Mahika Gaur, who dismissed both openers in the 5th and 7th overs. Sarah Glenn accounted for Vishmi Gunaratne (9 off 12), while another debutant, Lauren Filer, trapped Hasini Perera for a mere 10 runs, leaving Sri Lanka struggling at 61/4.

Harshitha Samarawickrama tried to stabilize Sri Lanka's innings but continued to lose partners. Eventually, she succumbed to Alice Capsey after scoring 35 runs from 44 deliveries. Harshitha's departure triggered a significant collapse as Sri Lanka Women lost wickets rapidly, managing to reach only 106 runs in 30.2 overs.

England Women's bowlers excelled, with Mahika Gaur, Sarah Glenn, and Lauren Filer each claiming three wickets, while Alice Capsey contributed with one.

In their pursuit of a small target of 107 runs, England Women got off to an excellent start with Tammy Beaumont and Emma Lamb opening the innings. They amassed a quick 61 runs in the initial 10 overs. However, Tammy was dismissed for a well-made 32 off 31 balls, featuring 5 fours, in the 11th over.

Skipper Heather Knight then partnered with Lamb, adding 12 runs before Lamb departed for 27 runs from 36 deliveries. Maia Bouchier joined Knight, and together they managed the chase adeptly, hitting boundaries and forming a 26-run partnership. Knight played well but was unfortunate to depart for 22 runs off 22 balls, including 3 fours. Her partner Bouchier remained unbeaten with 17 runs off 17 balls.

England Women comfortably crossed the finish line with 32 overs to spare, reaching the target of 107 runs in just 18 overs with 7 wickets in hand. Oshadi Ranasinghe, Kavisha Dilhari, and Inoka Ranaweera each took a wicket for Sri Lanka Women's bowling effort.
