That's going to wrap up the proceedings for this game and the English summer that we have had. It was a great summer to be a part of. Hope all of you enjoyed our coverage. Until next time, this is Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Deepak Prakash alongside scorer/analyst Raju Khariya. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodnight and CHEERS!
Zak Crawley has received the trophy and now the England team pose for a photograph.
Zak Crawley (England Captain): "Yes, a great honour to captain the side and get the series win as well. Yes, it is a great sign for us and the second team can put pressure on the first team. Great for English cricket. I think it is about role clarity and they went and played there and take the attack to the opposition. The main side does well. I want to play ODI cricket in the future and hope to get better at it. I want to play in many formats as possible and want to improve as there is competition for places in the English team. So, want to improve our game."
Paul Stirling (Ireland Captain): "Yeah, obviously very disappointing, how we went both days today, even in the half-day, kind of feels like a loss, almost. So something we've got a couple of weeks off now or longer than that, to reflect and sit down and see where we're going to go as a side. You're bowling the world-class players who put you under pressure, and that's when you see if you stand up and that's how I went today.  Very difficult couple of overs and it just sort of kept spiraling from there. We couldn't get any control back in the game and they were definitely off for a very big score, so maybe the rain got there in time for us.

I think we've always had talent and produced cricketers who are at a world-class level, but we haven't quite made that into a team yet. And I think that's the focus over the next sort of period or four years is to try and make us into a very good team that's hard to beat, instead of a collection of individuals who have pushed on in different areas and in different formats. So I think that our main focus is to make sure that we can get together and put in great performances more often."

Still absolutely love to play in cricket. Continue to open the bat hopefully, and still as enjoyable hitting the ball through the covers for four getting off the mark. So along that, may that continue, and hopefully a few more runs still left in the bank."
Will Jacks (Player of the Series): "Really shame today. We were going for a big score, but rain had other plans. Good to have fun out there. I have to be keep improving and enjoy my batting and bowling as well. Salt made it easy and that was unbelievable to say the least. If we had gone on, who knows where we would have gone from here. Happy to win the series in the end."
Player of the Series: Will Jacks.
ODI Player of the Summer: Dawid Malan.
Time for the presentations.
Deepak: It's quite surprising to witness a match being called off after just 20 minutes of rain. Perhaps the ECB should consider sending their groundsmen to Sri Lanka for some advanced training! πŸ˜„ Just kidding! The facility here in Bristol is not enough and things are not in the hands of groundsmen.
8:00 PM IST, 3:30 PM Local Time: After being invited to bat first, England got off to a rollicking start. The opening duo of Philip Salt and Will Jacks started the carnage straightaway from the first ball and thwarted the Irish bowlers all around the park, adding 87 runs for the first wicket in the 7 overs. Philip Salt in particular was more aggressive among the duo, as he went on to complete his half-century in no time. Craig Young managed to shatter the partnership, as he dismissed Philip Salt after a scintillating 61-run performance and sent Will Jacks back to the pavilion with 39 runs to his name.

Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett started building the partnership, and the duo kept the scoreboard ticking at a decent pace. The partnership between the duo moved to 100 runs, with both batters notching up their respective half-centuries. However, Crawley departed straightaway after completing his half-century, becoming the maiden ODI wicket for debutant Theo van Woerkom. But Ben Duckett carried on and completed his maiden ODI hundred. Sam Hain came and scored a good 17 off 18 balls before being dismissed at the stroke of the rain break. 31 overs were bowled and England were 280/4 when the weather intervened and the damage was done with the outfield deemed unplayable and unfit to play.

Craig Young was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets for 31 runs in 7 overs. The debutant Woerkom got a wicket but went for runs like many of the other bowlers. The match has been abandoned and England wins the series 1-0.
7:52 PM IST, 15:22 Local Time: ABANDONED! The match has been abandoned and the players are seen shaking hands. The drainage at Bristol is not so good. It was pouring down, in fact it is pouring down. Not much facilities to cover the entire ground, and the chances of a cleanup seem very low. Plenty of puddles on the ground and this not gonna help the ground staff by any means. The umpires looked at these factors and decided to wrap things up without wasting much of time.
Ayan: Hello Paras and Raju. Honestly, I was enjoying the boundaries galore and England look in full flow even with a second string side. Their approach is refreshing and entertaining for commentators and fans alike. Of course, they were helped by the Irish bowlers today if I am being brutally honest. But on good pitches, this works, and on testing conditions it doesn't. But when it happens, it is great to view those stuff.
Deepak: Hello, Paras and Raju! Definitely, got some time to rest after watching a havoc off the English batters. 😁 The English openers were batting in T-10 mode and they made a habit of doing this in every game. However, the Irish bowlers bowled poor line and length in the overcast conditions, they needed to bowl the fuller delivery to get some movement in the air but they bowled shorter length deliveries with plenty of width, and had to bear the brunt of it. Of course, the batters came out with clear intent and executed their plans very well.
Paras Yadav: Yes, Mr. Khariya! But I feel for Ayan and Deepak, the commentators who have now finally got some respite after seeing the boundaries galore. I want to ask them a simple question. Please share your responses or reactions on the English top order going all guns blazing.
Raju Khariya: This is where the Sri Lankan ground staff are the best. They cover the whole ground and don't allow any water to spoil the outfield. The covers are only around one side of the square apart from the pitch. This is not at all a great news with puddles already starting to form in many areas. Okay, they have covered the other side of the square as well. But might be a bit too late. Remember this happened in Headingley!
7:19 PM IST, 2:49 PM Local Time: Ok, the rain has arrived. It is coming down very heavily as the groundsmen struggle to get the covers on. It was getting dark and was due to come and has arrived at the right time. They are still trying to get it covered. We will have a long pause in play one feels.
