That brings an end to our coverage of this game. Don't go anywhere as the second semi-final starts shortly where Pakistan Women will take on Sri Lanka Women. For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Ovaise Shariff and scorer Yogesh Kumar. Tata. Bye Bye.

Shafali Verma | Player of the Match: "Lots of confidence going into the final. The pitch is good for batting and love batting here. Smriti did well and Jemi also stepped up. We looked to build partnerships in the middle. Hope the weather stays good and we have a full game in the final. I’m confident about my game and try to work on my weaknesses. Will look to contribute to the team’s success."

Shafali Verma is named the Player of the Match.

Harmanpreet Kaur | India Skipper: "We batted really well. Thailand also bowled well and didn’t give us loose balls. We had to work hard to get to that total while batting first. When you don’t get a chance to play, you always look to spend some time in the middle to gain some confidence. Jemi and Shafali also played well. Deepti is ready to bowl in any situation and is good to have her on our side. Whenever you are getting 150 on the board on every day of the competition, you are doing good. We will look to repeat our performance in the final."

Naruemol Chaiwai | Thailand Skipper: "We played better than the last game. It was a great experience and we always wanted to play against a strong team like India. We want to win every game and try to enjoy it. If we have fun while playing, we will do everything good."

Time for the post-match presentation.
Akshay: That’s a tame end to the first semi-final as India Women beat Thailand Women comprehensively for the second time in the competition. An all-round effort helps India Women beat Thailand Women by 74 runs to seal a berth in the final of the Women’s Asia Cup T20 2022.

Chasing 149 was always going to be a tough task for Thailand Women. They didn’t have the best of starts to the chase as the spin duo of Deepti Sharma and Rajeshwari Gayakwad kept a check on the scoring rate. Sharma ran through the Thai top order as Thailand Women were reeling at 18/2 at the end of the powerplay. Sharma picked up another as she ended with figures of 3/7 in her four overs, which included a maiden.

The Thai batters never got going as the run rate kept climbing up. They failed to rotate the strike as the Indian spinners controlled the game in the middle phase. Naruemol Chaiwai (21) and Nattaya Boochatham (21) put up a 42-run stand for the fifth wicket but that was the only positive for them in the chase as they finished their innings on 74/9, losing the game by 74 runs.

Earlier in the day, Thailand Women skipper Naruemol Chaiwai won the toss and opted to bowl first. India Women got off to a very good start, with both openers in Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma putting away the loose balls. The first breakthrough for Thailand Women came in the fifth over when Mandhana was dismissed on 13. Verma looked good for her 42 but departed in trying to up the ante. Jemimah Rodrigues was joined by her skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and both started building a partnership.

Rodrigues along with Kaur put 42 between them before the former departed on 27. The boundaries dried up and the Thai bowlers pulled back things. They bowled beautifully and didn’t allow the Indian Women to get away. India Women managed to score only 148 at the end of their 20 overs, losing six wickets. Sornnarin Tippoch for Thailand bowled brilliantly and finished with figures of 3/24. Their batters couldn’t back up the good work put up by the bowlers as they failed to chase down the total. Stick around for the post-match presentations.
