That's it from the 15th game of the Women's Asia Cup 2022 which saw the Women in Blue silence the home crowd and thrash the defending champions Bangladesh Women by 59 runs. Do join us for more Women's Asia Cup fixtures on Sunday and for all other cricketing action across the globe. For now, this is me Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my esteemed co-commentator Hitesh Peddurwar, alongside scorer/analyst Manish Bishnoi. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Until next time, Goodbye and CHEERS to all.
Shafali Verma(Player of the match): " Yes I am always thinking to do what the team wants, if they want me to bowl then I am ready for that. In the bowling I was just thinking to bowl in the good areas. So much hard work, thanks to my family and friends for supporting me."
Smriti Mandhana (India Women Captain): "Yes, definitely happy. We were disappointed in the last game. To come back strongly showed the character of the girls and I am proud of them. It was a team performance. Shafali played well and then Jemimah played well to finish off. The bowlers were great. I think we missed out with the bat at the end and so we will address that going forward. Yes, my advice was to bowl at good lengths, straighter, not give away anything, and keep it tight. Yes, we are confident, but we will take it one game at a time. We are confident of where we are at."
Nigar Sultana( Bangladesh Women Captain): " We didn't bowl well in the powerplay, we bowled so many loose balls at the start. While we were batting we were unable to score quick runs, they bowled so many loose balls in the powerplay but we were unable to capitalize on it. It was our plan as Meghla and Nahida bowled in good areas in the powerplay and I thought to bring Rumana in the later half"
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony!!
So, professional performance from Women in Blue establishes them at the top of the table. This is their 4th win in 5 games as they come back from the setback at the hands of Pakistan and win this contest by 59 runs. The Women in Blue are almost through to the last 4. They have outplayed the hosts and defending champions in all facets of the game.

Chasing a stiff target of 160 for their 3rd win, Bangladesh got off to a steady start but they played too slowly for anyone's liking. The opening duo of Fargana Hoque and Murshida Khatun put on 45 for the opening wicket but it took 9.1 overs and it meant the required rate was sky-high for the batters coming down in the middle order. Khatun scored 21 off 25 balls while Hoque scored a painstaking 30 off 40 balls. The skipper Nigar Sultana showed intent in her 36 off 29 balls unlike the openers, but it was too late in the day. The middle order fell away to pressure and they managed to get 100/7 in 20 overs. Just a couple of extras were given by the Indian bowlers as Bangladesh were way short of the target. They consumed as many as 60 dot balls in the innings which is way too many for an international game.

It was a disciplined bowling performance from the Indian bowlers as all of them bowled quite well. Shafali Verma starred with the ball with 2/10 in 4 overs to go with her half-century with the bat. Deepti Sharma was effective as we expect from her picking up a couple of wickets for 13 runs in 4 overs. Renuka Singh Thakur picked up a wicket in her 3-over spell as she gave away 22 runs. The other wicket-taker was Sneh Rana as she bowled 3 overs 1/17. Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Pooja Vastrakar went wicketless but kept things under check.

After winning the toss and deciding to bat first, India Women got off to a blazing start courtesy of their openers Shafali Verma and stand-in skipper Smriti Mandhana. India Women blazed away to 91 in the first 10 overs and lost their skipper thanks to a run-out. Mandhana scored 47 off 38 balls. Shafali Verma blazed her way to her 4th T20I fifty as she made 55 off 44 balls. India lost their way in the end overs as they managed only 68 runs off the last 10 overs for the loss of five wickets. It was Jemimah Rodrigues’ unbeaten 35 off 24 balls and a cameo from Deepti Sharma who scored 10 off 5 balls along with 7 extras by the Bangladesh Women took the total to a competitive 159/5 in 20 overs.

The Bangladesh Women's bowlers came back with the ball after giving away 91 runs in the first 10 overs. They gave away only 68 runs and picked up 5 wickets in the last 10 overs of the Indian innings. Rumana Ahmed who was brought in the last ten overs to bowl did the star turn as she picked up 3 wickets for 27 runs in 3 overs. She picked up 2 wickets in 2 balls and almost got a hat trick only to drop a catch of her own bowling in the follow-through on the hat-trick ball. The other wicket was taken by Salma Khatun. Fahima Khatun and Shanjida Akter went wicketless but kept it tight as they went at less than run a ball. A few of their bowlers went the distance, but they came back well with the ball only to show absolutely no intent with the bat.

A win for India Women over Bangladesh Women by 59 runs to remain at the top of the points table and have one foot in the door in the Last 4 ahead of their final group clash on Monday afternoon against Thailand Women. Stick around for the post-match presentation ceremony that shall come your way soon.
