Winning the toss and deciding to bat first, the World Giants got off to a flier courtesy of Kevin OβBrien who went berserk in the powerplay. He shared a 50-run stand with Hamilton Masakadza in 5.3 overs with the Zimbabwean contributing 18 off 15 balls. Kevin was the star with his 52 off 31 balls. Denesh Ramdin the keeper batter coming at 4 ably supported him with his 42* off 29 balls. Kallis scored only 12 runs. Thisara Perera made a handy 23 off 16 balls. They were well-placed after 10 overs but lost their way towards the end. They could have gotten to 180+ from where they were after 10 overs. 14 extras were given by the Maharajas which included 5 penalty runs.
Pankaj Singh
was the star for the Maharajas as he got 5-26 in 4 overs which included a
triple wicket maiden at the end. Harbhajan Singh bowled a tidy spell of 1-21 in
4 overs. A wicket apiece for Joginder Sharma and Mohammad Kaif. Joginder had to
leave the field as he pulled his calf. Sreesanth was disappointing, to say the least, and was
taken to the cleaners while Dinda went off the field as well.
So, a win for the Maharajas by 6 wickets with 8 balls to spare. Stick around for the presentation that shall come your way soon.
