Johan Botha (Player of the match): "Might get a bit heavy (on the trophies), The lesson from game one was to get wickets and we executed the plans well. I have been quite active after retirement but haven't bowled a lot. Some of the players in the team haven't played much cricket. But was a great effort by the team and we are happy to get over the line today! "

Jonty Rhodes(Winning Captain): "Our two young spinners (laughs) bowled very well, both the bowlers had great control over the line and length they bowled!! A magnificent effort from them.. We were not going for the net run rate, we just wanted to get over the line. There were no instructions on hitting the ball hard."
Ross Taylor(Losing Captain): " Yeah it was a tough wicket and I think the Johan Botha bowled and put us under pressure right away.100 was never gonna enough. I think we need to rectify some aspects. If we got a couple of wickets early then we could have given a tough competition. Shane Bond is only bowling his 85-90 percent let's hope he bowls 100 percent in the next game we all know the quality of player he is, Scott Styris is having a niggle hope so he will be fit for the next game."

Andrew Puttick: "I think our boys bowled pretty well and restricted them to a low total. A bit of luck was on my side as I got out and it was a no-ball. Hopefully, we keep on improving and win the games. We have played together during different phases in our careers it's all about spending time together."
South Africa Legends dominated proceedings right from ball one and have won the match by 9 wickets!! Nothing went right for the New Zealand Legends today, they were poor in all 3 aspects of the game!!
Earlier in the day, New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first on a dry-looking surface!! New Zealand Legends got off to a poor start. Aaron Redmon and Anton Devcich walked out to open the innings for New Zealand Legends. Johan Botha broker through early and dismissed Devcich. The New Zealand batter just couldn't get going, they lost wickets at regular intervals and in no time were struggling with the score of 35-4!
Ross Taylor, Jacob Oram, Neil Broom and Craig McMillan all were dismissed in single digits, the spinners were very difficult to pick, Dean Brownlie was the one who was solid at one end, he got some help in the form of Gareth Hopkins, other they stitched up a much-needed partnership and took New Zealand Legends to 99 at the end of their innings.
Tshabalala and Botha were simply fantastic today, together they picked up 7 wickets and just broke the back of the batting order!! 100 was the target for South Africa Legends.
Morne van Wyk and Andrew Puttick walked out the open the batting and we were aggressive from the get-go. They made use of the powerplay and took the game away from South Africa Legends. Bruce Phillips was introduced into the attack and managed to get the wicket of van Wyk. Alviro Petersen joined Puttick in the middle and together they stitched up a match-winning partnership and took their teams over the finish line!! RSAL won the match with 9 wickets and 6.3 overs still remaining!!
