Earlier in the day, Bangladesh Legends won the toss and opted
to bat first on a dry-looking surface and got off to a disastrous start,
Nazimuddin and Sadat walked out to open the batting, and Nazimuddin was
dismissed in the second over of the game for a duck by Santokie. Sadat
followed him soon, as he was involved in a run-out, The Bangladesh Legends was
4-2 in 2.2 and looked in deep trouble.
Aftab Ahmed and Tushar Imran steadied the ship. Marlon Black was
introduced into the attack and broke through straight away on the 3rddelivery of the 7th over, Tushar Imran played a horrendous shot and lofted a back-of-a-length
delivery straight down the throat of the short mid-wicket fielder. Aftab Ahmed played a false shot and departed too
after contributing with 13.
Alok Kapali had come out with positive intent, he hit some lusty blows and
contributed with a valuable 19 of 20 balls, he was ably helped by the
wicket-keeper Dhiman Ghosh. Eventually, the Bangladesh Legends side crawled
their way to 98 before getting all out!! Dhiman Ghosh remained not out on 22
and was also the highest run scorer in this innings!! It was a poor effort with
the bat by the Bangladesh Legends side, they will now look to redeem themselves
and try to put up a better performance with the ball now.
Chasing 99 for victory, West Indies Legends lost D Mohammed for just 5. D Smith and Deonarine had a partnership of 41. Soon after Deonarine was dismissed for 8. Smith played an outstanding knock of 51 off 42 balls. K Edwards came in and stayed unbeaten on 22 off 19 to chase the score in just over 15 overs.
The Bangladesh Legends bowlers kept it tight but did not have a huge score to defend. Razzak was economical and picked a wicket. Kapali and Dolar Mahmud also chipped in with a wicket a piece.
A convincing win for the West Indies Legends by 6 wickets.
