That's it from today's 1st Semifinal match of Pakistan T20 2022 match between Northern and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan, Pakistan. This is Saipavan Janaki taking your leave along with my co-commentator Megh and our Scorers/Analyst Ashok . Stay tuned for more coverage going on in our network, take care and enjoy!!!
Khalid Usman | Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Captain: "Ready for final and all are ready for that big game. 160 below was a good total and a chasable target for us and Farhan and Rehan played well at the top and lastly, we take the advantage of Salman over with 16 runs and we did it. No option and want to win and we won this match. Want to say the players that play well and enjoy."
Umar Amin | Northern Captain: “We were happy with 165, and overall we were right in the game. But it was just a matter of one over that changed the course of the game. Not all our ploys paid off today, but we have to continue to think out of the box. We have lacked in the last five or so and we have struggled there in the last five games. Kp’s bowlers executed their plans well and credit goes to them. Overall, it was a great experience of captaincy for me”
Player of the Match | Rehan Afridi : "Great feeling got the man of the match in this semifinal match. We are taking charge of Tanvir and utilizing the powerplay and scoring 50+ runs. We used the powerplay very well and won this match."
It is time for the post-match presentation...
7:15 PM IST | THAT’S IT! WHAT A TEAM! After 30 group fixtures, we finally have our first finalist. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is through to the Finals and they become the first team to do this season. What an excellent all-round display; they truly toppled the Northern and Khyber befittingly deserves a place in the Finals. This is also Khyber’s third consecutive appearance in the National T20 Final. The Khyber camp is overjoyed and the players are sprinting out in the middle.

In pursuit of a challenging total of 165, Sahibzada Farhan and Rehan Afridi set the tempo for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The right-handed duo took charge early on and stitched 50 of the first five overs. The Northern bowlers also made an identical error as the Khyber bowlers. They bowled loose deliveries and granted enough width to the batters. Farhan and Afridi maximized on loose deliveries and thrashed 8 boundaries in the powerplay. Both the batters were playing with a hefty strike rate throughout and Khyber was placed at 87 for no loss after the halfway mark of the first innings.

Sohail Tanvir broke the 89-run opening stand between the duo as he squared up Farhan 39 (29) with a shorter delivery. That was soon followed by the wicket of his opening companion as Rehan Afridi departed after a crucial knock of 54(39), including seven boundaries and a maximum. Zaman Khan turned the pendulum again in favor of Northern by clinching two wickets in the 16th over. The over-read: W,2,1,1,W,1. However, Khyber batters hold on to their nerves and maximized the last four overs. And, in the end, it was the decisive partnership between Captain Usman Khalid 8(8) and Mohammad Sarwar 37(28) that helped the Khyber to get past the line.

Ultimately, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the conquerors of National T20 2020 and 2021 has yet again entered the Finals as they win this encounter by 5 wickets. They were the table-toppers in the group stage, having won 6 out of their 10 games. Northern, on the other hand, would be disheartened. They had a magnificent turnaround in the penultimate week, but they fail to cement a place in the Finals. Now, the defending champions would lock horns with the winner of Semi-Final 2, which will be between Sindh and Central Punjab. Stay Tuned for the post-match presentation!
