That's it from our coverage of the 20th fixture of the Pakistan National T20 Cup 2022 between Balochistan and Southern Punjab from the Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan. We hope you enjoyed our coverage. Megh Mandaliya here, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Chinmay and scorer/analyst Yogesh. Tune in for another doubleheader tomorrow. See you there!

Agha Salman (Southern Punjab Captain) "We weren't looking at the past six matches and we wanted to start fresh in the Multan leg. We did nothing special rather we tries to bowl in the stump line more and we executed it perfectly."
Yasir Shah (Balochistan Captain) "Our body language was down today and we were 20 runs short in the first innings. It is tough to play back-to-back matches in these conditions but we are professional cricketers and we should be ready for these conditions. Sometimes the batters click and sometimes they don't and that was the reason we lost today."
Ali Majid (Player of the match): " Firstly, I am grateful for getting past the line today. I try to give my best every time irrespective of the conditions. I tried to keep my line and length tight and that troubled the batters early on. I prefer bowling to right-handers more."
Ali Majid has been awarded the player of the match for his 3/27.
Time for the post-match presentation...

THE MATCH HAS BEEN ABANDONED. The rain has played the spoilsport, but not for Southern Punjab. They have won this crucial encounter by 20 runs (DLS METHOD) and will climb up the ladder with 6 points.

In the first innings
, after winning the toss and surprisingly electing to bowl first, Southern Punjab bundled Balochistan for 144.  They started positively as they attained quick scalps at regular intervals. Haseebullah 8(9) was the first one to return as Ali Majid got better of him in the third over soon followed by the scalp of his opening companion Asad Shafiq 27(20). Balochistan also managed to secure 39 of the powerplay with the loss of two wickets. Abdul Bangalzai and Shan Masood tried to stitch a partnership but Masood 9(7) was outfoxed by Agha Salman and since then, Balochistan failed to take charge as they were dragged on the backfoot.

Southern Punjab spinsters bowled exceptionally and gripped the bowl from the surface. Captain Agha Salman bagged two crucial wickets and finished his stint on 2/26, similarly, Ali Majid attained the most scalps and finished his spell on 3/27. Muhammad Ilyas also constantly ticked the good-length area and troubled the batters; finished his spell on 2/19. Lastly, Imran Randhawa also attained a couple of scalps. The Balochistan could never really accelerate the innings and failed to hit boundaries.

In pursuit of a below-par total of 145, Southern Punjab started on an electrifying note as both the openers stitched 54 the powerplay. Both the southpaws looked in supreme touch and they made the most out of loose deliveries. Umar
Siddiq took charge and capitalized on everything loose, while Zain Abbas, who has recently hit the purple patch of his career played the second fiddle. The duo stitched a partnership of 54 before the rain took charge. In the end, they won the match by 20 runs with the help of the DLS method. Stay tuned for the post-match presentation.

5:55 PM IST | UPDATE: The match has been called off and Southern Punjab has won this by 20 runs (DLS METHOD).
The play has been stopped here due to strong winds. The players and umpires are walking off the field and this does not look promising. However, sandstorms are customary here in Multan and we could resume the play very soon. We will be back with further updates.

Megh: That brings a close to the powerplay. Southern Punjab has already passed the 50-run mark and both the openers look in a magnificent touch. Balochistan desperately needs a breakthrough to clinch back into the game, while the Southern Punjab will look to carry this momentum forward.

4 Third four of this over and this time by Zain Abbas. It was in the slot outside off and Abbas easily chipped that over the mid off fielder in the circle and gets an easy four to end the powerplay.
5.5 A Butt to Z Abbas
0 Butt bowls a length ball taking the pace of that as Abbas makes room for himself and tried to guide that into the off side but missed it to the keeper.
5.4 A Butt to U Siddiq
1 Hard length ball on pads by Butt and Siddiq turns that down into the leg side for a single.
5.3 A Butt to U Siddiq
4 FOUR! Two in Two. It was short wide outside off and Siddiq waited for that and played that late and placed that into the gap between backward point and extra cover fielder for four runs.
5.2 A Butt to U Siddiq
4 FOURRR!!! Butt bowls this one full outside off and Siddiq comes forward and lofted that one over the bowlers head as the ball goes to the long off boundary, What a beautiful shot this was from Siddiq.

1 Length ball outside off by Butt and Abbas guides that one into the off side for a single.
