22.55 IST: UAE has registered a 47 runs triumph here which means Singapore's hopes for the Asia Cup have been diminished while UAE will have to win their last qualifier match against Hong Kong to increase their chances for the mega event.
After getting invited to bat first by Singapore, UAE put in a challenging total of 160/8 in their 20 overs with contributions from Muhammad Waseem (58) and Basil Hameed (38). In reply, Singapore's opener Surendran Chandramohan got dismissed without troubling the scorers (0 off 5 balls). However, their other opener Aritra Dutta (42 off 29) was looking good and played some great shots in the middle to give his side a little bit of hope but the lack of support from the other end made sure they suffer a huge loss of 47 runs.
Rezza Gaznavi, Janak Prakash and Aman Desai ate plenty of deliveries in the middle and got out when it was time to lift the ante. Tail to didn't possess any magic either and they bundled on 113. This defeat will definitely hurt Singapore.
For UAE, Karthik Meiyappan and Junaid Siddique were the picks of the bowlers and they both scaped three wickets each. Sultan Ahmed, Sabir Ali, Basil Hameed and Zawar Farid also contributed with a wicket each.
With this win, courtesy of a net run rate of +1.045, UAE moved to the top of the table with a match to go against Hong Kong on August 24.
