Milestone
That's the end of our coverage for this game. Do switch tabs as Bengaluru Blasters take on the Hubli Tigers in the sixth match. This is me, Akshay Bhide, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ayan Chatterjee and scorer Ashok Kumar. Tata. Bye Bye.
Manish Pandey | Player of the Match and Gulbarga Mystics Skipper: "The way we started the game, it was good. We have to bowl well in the death overs and need to improve in that aspect. The batting was good and happy with building partnerships in the middle. It was heartening to see us chase down this total. We had a couple of changes and changed the batting order. Luckily, it paid off and helped us get across the line. I really wanted to finish the game but credit to Avinash for picking up a fifer. As I said, we had batting till number 10 and we had faith in all the players. Overall, I'm happy with the effort from the boys."
Manish Pandey is the Player of the Match.
Time for the presentations.
Akshay: A boundary and that’s the end of the match. What a thrilling game of cricket we witnessed, with plenty of ebbs and flows throughout the game, and the Gulbarga Mystics managed to hold their nerves to finish on the winning side. They chase down 176 to beat the Shivamogga Strikers by three wickets to register their first win of the competition.

It was always going to be a daunting task to chase 175. Jeswath Acharya and Devdutt Padikkal gave them a steady start, with the latter falling in the fifth over on nine. Rohan Patil along with Acharya tried to resurrect the innings but Acharya departed on a well-made 30. Manish Pandey arrived at the crease and held the innings for the Mystics.

Pandey was going strong from one end but lacked support from the other end. The Mystics kept losing wickets at regular intervals and the required run rate kept climbing over 10. Skipper Pandey held his ground and brought up a well-composed half-century. He departed after getting to the landmark with just 14 runs required to win. The tailenders then held their nerves to take their side across the line in the last over with five balls to spare. Avinash for the Strikers picked up a fifer but the other bowlers failed to step up as they failed to defend the total.

Earlier, Shivamogga Strikers skipper Krishnappa Gowtham won the toss and opted to bat first. After losing an early wicket, the duo of Rohan Kadam and Krishnamurthy Siddharth put in a solid partnership for the second wicket. Both brought up their fifties as they put 108 between them. The Mystics crawled back into the game after dismissing both batters in quick succession.

The Mystics were sloppy in the field in the death overs. Gowtham and Avinash played fantastic cameos in the end to power the Strikers to 175 at the end of their 20 overs. Codanda Ajit Karthik starred with the ball for the Mystics as he picked up three wickets, giving away 30 runs in his four overs. Vidhwath Kaverappa picked up two wickets but was expensive. In the end, their batters contributed to help them chase down the total in the last over.
19.1 D MB to Karthik
4 FOUR! That's it. Game, Set, and Match for Mystics. Fuller and wide outside off, Karthik has a flash at it as he flashes hard past the keeper's gloves and the ball flies away towards the third man fence for a boundary to win the contest and gets their first win of the season. Karthik gets the winning runs as Gulbarga Mystics win this by 3 wickets with 5 balls to spare to notch up their first win in the competition.
19.1 D MB to Karthik
WD Too full and wide outside off and is given wide here. Karthik looks to chase at it, and luckily does not get bat to it.
Akshay: Bhatkal, you beauty. He has hit the killer blow here. Just four required now from the last over. This is now Mystics' game to lose from here on.

6 SIX! What a blow this is. Fuller and in the slot, Bhatkal goes down the ground over mid-off as the ball sails into the stands at long-off. Bhatkal gets enough of it and seals the deal you would think for the Mystics. 11 off the over. Just 4 needed off 6 now.

W WICKET! Fuller length outside off with pace off the ball, Pandey looks to go over covers and miscues it towards mid-off where Gowtham takes the catch. Pandey departs. 5 wickets for Avinash. Is there a late twist in the tale?
