Milestone
That's it from the thriller that we had at the Karen Rolton Oval. There are 11 league games to go and we are in the final week of the league stage of the Women's Big Bash League 2022. Join us tomorrow for a doubleheader of the Women's Big Bash League 2022. Until then, this is me Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my esteemed co-commentator Akshay Bhide, alongside scorer/analyst Manish Bishnoi. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodbye and CHEERS until next time.
Amelia Kerr has been named the Player of the Match for her 3/26 off 4 overs with the ball and 32 runs off 28 balls with the bat.
We have witnessed a thriller at the Karen Rolton Oval between two evenly matched teams and at the end of the day, it is the Brisbane Heat who hold their nerve to eke out a narrow 2-run win over the Adelaide Strikers. The game saw two rain interruptions and a reduced game which saw the Heat getting a crucial two points while the Strikers stay in 5th place.

Chasing a revised target of 118 in 16 overs to collect two valuable points, the Strikers got off to a steady start as the duo of Mack and Wolvaardt put up 22 runs for the first wicket. Mack was the first to go for 13 runs while McGrath scored 11. The middle order lost their way as they lost wickets in clusters which proved to be their undoing. Laura Wolvaardt held one end up and kept the Strikers in the contest. She top-scored with a fabulous 45 off 38 balls. Megan Schutt tried her level best with an unbeaten 18* off 12 balls, but they fell agonizingly short by 2 runs. 13 extras were given by the Heat bowlers as Strikers finished with 115 in 16 overs.

Amelia Kerr was the pick of the bowlers with 3/26 in 4 overs. Nicola Hancock bowled well upfront with a couple of wickets for 25 runs in 3 overs. A wicket apiece for Jess Jonassen, Jess Kerr, and Courtney Sippel. They were good with the ball but were sloppy in the field as they misfielded a bit and dropped a few catches at the start. But when it mattered, they took the sharp catches led by Grace Harris in the field.

After rain delayed play for 15 minutes, the match was initially reduced to 19 overs a side. Heat opting to bat first, got off to a solid start. The opening duo of Voll and Wyatt put up 27 runs inside 4 overs before Voll fell. Wyatt scored 15 while Voll scored 16. They lost their way a bit and were 90/5 after 13 overs when heavy rain came in and delayed proceedings. Thereafter, Amelia Kerr’s 32 off 28 balls, Laura Harris's 20 off 7 balls, and Jess Jonassen’s 15* off 14 balls alongside 4 extras took the score to a competitive 114/6 in 14 overs.

Megan Schutt was the pick of the bowlers for Adelaide Strikers picking up 3 wickets for 38 runs in 4 overs. A couple of wickets for Deandra Dottin as she ended with 2/22 in 3 overs. A wicket for Amanda Jade Wellington. Jemma Barsby and Darcie Brown went wicketless but kept things under check.

So, a thrilling win for Brisbane Heat Women by 2 runs under the DLS method helps them consolidate second place, while the Strikers stay in 5th place in the points table.

15.6 A Kerr to D Brown
W In the air, is that big enough? No, Grace Harris at long off takes a good catch well inside the ropes. Heartbreak for Brown as she went for a glory hit but holes out in the deep. Kerr tosses this up around off, Brown stands still and looks to hit it over long off. She gets the elevation but not the required distance as Harris settles under it and pouches it safely. With this, Brisbane Heat Women beat Adelaide Strikers Women by 2 runs on the DLS method.
3 runs are now needed off 1 ball. 2 are required to take us into a super over.
15.5 A Kerr to M Schutt
1 Nicely tossed up again by Kerr and Schutt can only drive it to the right of covers for only a single. 3 from 1 now.
4 runs are now needed off 2 balls. Could we have a super over?
15.4 A Kerr to D Brown
1 Slower in the air this time from Kerr, Brown taps it in front of point and collects a single. 4 from 2.
15.3 A Kerr to M Schutt
1 Fuller delivery on the stumps, Schutt gets an inside edge while flicking it and it goes between the legs of the keeper. Single taken. 5 from 3 now.
6 runs are now needed off 4 balls.
15.2 A Kerr to M Schutt
2 Tossed up on the stumps, Schutt gets down on one knee and sweeps it in the gap between deep square leg and deep mid wicket for a couple of runs. 6 from 4 now.
15.1 A Kerr to D Brown
1 Turning away outside off, Brown hits it towards covers and scampers across for a quick run.
15.1 A Kerr to D Brown
WD A wide to start the last over. Pressure on Kerr. Bowls a leg break way outside off and Brown is beaten on the drive. Wide signaled by the umpire.
Right, 10 runs are needed off 6 balls with 1 wicket in hand. We are going down to the wire. Amelia Kerr will bowl the final over of the game.

14.6 N Hancock to M Schutt
4 FOUR!!!! A boundary to end the penultimate over. Hancock bowls it right in the slot on the stumps, Schutt lifts it over mid on and there's no stopping that one. A crucial boundary and the Strikers require 10 off the last over.
14.5 N Hancock to D Brown
1 Banged in short down leg, Brown pulls it fine and the keeper does well to stop it by diving to her left. A single taken by the batters.
