That brings an end to our coverage for this game. Do join us for more cricketing action around the globe. For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Ninaad Dixit and scorer Dushyant Kumar. Tata. Bye Bye.
Erin Burns is named the Player of the Match for her fighting knock of 71 off just 38 balls.
Akshay: What a thrilling finish we have just witnessed here at Karen Rolton Oval. The Sixers were down and out but Erin Burns played an outstanding innings and kept the Sixers in the chase. With 4 required from the last two balls, she departed. Genford failed to get any bat on the last ball and the Strikers clinch a thriller by three runs. With this, the Adelaide Strikers register their first win of the Women's Big Bash League 2022.

Chasing 143, Sydney Sixers got off to the worst possible start, losing Alyssa Healy (6) and Ellyse Perry (0) on two successive deliveries in the second over to Darcie Brown who bowled beautifully with the new ball. The Sixers were reeling at 14/2 at the end of the mandatory powerplay. Ashleigh Gardner along with Suzie Bates tried to resurrect the innings but both were dismissed in a space of three balls.

Erin burns arrived at the crease and looked positive. She played some beautiful strokes and was well-supported by Nicole Bolton from the other end. With the required run rate creeping above 11, Bolton departed on 13 in trying to up the ante. Burns tried hard and almost pulled off a heist but fell on 71 off 38 balls with four required from the last two balls. They fell agonizingly short of the target as they lose the game by three runs and suffer their first loss of this year's competition.

Earlier in the day, Sydney Sixers skipper Ellyse Perry won the bat flip and opted to bowl first. They had a very good start as they sent back both the Strikers’ openers early in the innings and reduced them to 26/2 at the end of the mandatory powerplay. Laura Wolvaardt along with skipper Tahlia McGrath led the recovery work but McGrath was undone by Gardner in the 10
th over. The Sixers pulled back things in the middle overs as the Strikers batters struggled to get going.

The Strikers were reeling at 83/6 at the end of 15.1 overs before Madeline Penna was joined by Tegan McPharlin and they changed the whole complexion of the match. Both put away loose balls and hit some lusty blows in the end. The Sixers were a bit sloppy with the ball in the slog overs as they conceded 59 runs in the last five overs. Penna and McPharlin remained unbeaten on 39 and 21 respectively to power the Strikers to 142 at the end of their 20 overs. Sophie Ecclestone was the pick of the bowlers for Sixers as she finished with figures of 2/15 in her four overs. The game went down to the wire and the Strikers Women held their nerves to win the nail-biting contest by three runs.
19.6 J Barsby to A Genford
W SWING AND A MISS!! IT'S ALL OVER! Good length outside the off stump, Genford rocks back to cut but gets nothing but air on the ball! In fact she is out stumped!! Advances down the pitch but misses, the keeper does the rest! Strikers get their first win of the season.

Another twist in the tale. Burns holes out in the deep and 4 required from the last ball now.
19.5 J Barsby to E Burns
W In the air and out!!!! We have a final ball finish at the Karen Rolton Oval!! Tossed up delivery on the off stump. Burns is advancing down the ground, makes it in a full toss and lofts in the air, mistimes the stroke by a whisker and finds the fielder at long off who takes a good catch under pressure. 4 to win off the final ball. Excellent from Burns!
Can you believe it? Sixers are one shot away now. 4 from 2 needed.
19.4 J Barsby to E Burns
6 SIX MOREE!!! Length delivery on the off stump. Burns jumps down the track and lofts this high up in the air. Has she got the distance to clear the boundary? YES SHE HAS!! Clears the cow corner fielder by a feet to get another six!!!
Patterson has dropped a sitter at deep mid wicket and has she dropped the match here? 10 runs required from 3 balls.
19.3 J Barsby to E Burns
2 Full toss on the stumps. Hits hard to deep midwicket. The fielder is running forward but drops the catch!! Another couple of runs added on the board. Bridget Patterson is the fielder.
SHOTTTT!!!! Cleared the fence with ease and it's now 12 from 4.
19.2 J Barsby to E Burns
6 In the air and clears cow corner!! Half volley outside the off stump. Burns gets down on a knee and plays the slog sweep off the middle of the bat! Clears the boundary by a distance!
19.1 J Barsby to E Burns
2 Barsby from over the wicket. Full on the off stump, an off break. Burns walks down the pitch and swings hard and connects well finding deep midwicket. Good running as the batters come back for 2.
Akshay: Brilliant over from Schutt. Concedes just six runs in the penultimate over. So the Sixers Women require 20 runs from the last over. Erin Burns on strike. Jemma Barsby to bowl the last.

18.6 M Schutt to E Burns
1 Good length wide of the off stump. Comes down the wicket and slaps this to wide mid off for a single to end the penultimate over. 20 to win off the final over!
18.5 M Schutt to S Ecclestone
1 Slower one. Length delivery wide outside off. Ecclestone mistimes a slog in the cow corner. Long on runs in and fields near the circle.
