11.00 PM IST| So, it is the wrap-up of coverage of the game between SLC Greys vs SLC Blues here in the Invitational League at R.Premdasa Stadium. Stay tuned to our network for all other cricketing action around the globe. For now, it is me, Tugral Azmi alongside my co-commentator, Saptak Saniyal, and scorer/analyst Chandan signing off from the commentary box. Until we meet again, stay happy and safe. Good Night...!!!
Kariyawasa Asalanka (SLC Blues Captain): "No just we had no plan at that time. All we wanted to do was get the wicket. I took seven bowlers with me when I went to play, and I used them all during the game to disadvantage the opposition team. Because T20 is a run-scoring competition, this pitch is inappropriate. Hopefully, the following game will feature a somewhat improved surface."
Ashan Priyanjan (SLC Greys Captain): "If we had scored those 20 and 22 runs, perhaps the outcome of the game would have been different. Today's game saw the bowlers at their finest. We also made numerous errors in the fielding department, which put us at a disadvantage throughout the game."
Player of the Match: Praveen Jayawickrama
Saptak: Team Blue have won their second game consecutively here as Kasun Rajitha lofts the full ball on off stump, over the mid off fielder. The chase started with the opener Sadeera Samarawickrama scored two boundaries but just after that he was dismissed for his personal score of 9 runs. Other opener Lahiru Udara was sluggish on the other side and was struggling with timing for his 22 ball 16 run innings. But the chase was kept on by the Blue team captain Charith Asalanka as he made some stroke to score a 20 balls 29 before adjudged LBW infront of Priyanath. Experienced batter Dhananjaya De silva was also achoring the chase by making a 17 off 22 balls.
Things again changed when Ashen Bandara came at the crease and scored few good boundaries intially to boost the run rate. He was not out till the end of the run chase and made a great knock of 27 from 23 balls to ensure the winning of the Blue team. Although Chamika Karunaratne and Suminda Lakshan failed today, it didn't cost much for Blue team.
Milan Rathnayake for the Grey team tried to turn the game with his bowling figure of 20-3 from the 3 ovrs, Muditha Lakshan, Duvindu Tillakaratne and Akila Dhananjaya scalped 1 wicket each here. But 116 is really very less on the board to defend.
In the end it seemed that Blue team bettered Grey team in every aspect of the game and remained victorious.
18.3 M Lakshan to K Rajitha
4 Rajitha finishes off in style. Rajitha was bowled full on off-middle and he lofts the delivery over the mid off fielder for a nice boundary to finish things off. Team blues are victorious now.
18.2 M Lakshan to K Rajitha
2 Full on pads and a thick inside edge through fine leg rewards two. Just one run needed now.
18.1 M Lakshan to A Bandara
1 Length ball on off and cut towards cover-point region for a single.
