Match Details
Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and invited India to bat first. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul gave India a brisk start as the duo added 54 runs in just 5.1 overs. Both were at their absolute best till Haris Rauf accounted for the dismissal of the Indian skipper (28 off 16 ). In the next over, Rahul (28 off 20) perished as Shadab Khan scalped his first wicket of the match.
Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav played some cracking shots as both added 29 runs for the third wicket. Mohammad Nawaz got rid of the dangerous-looking SKY (13 off 10). Despite losing wickets in the middle, Indian batters kept going with positive intent.
Rishabh Pant (14 off 12) too played a few shots before being prey for Shadab Khan. It was a rare off day on the field for Hardik Pandya as he went back to the hut without scoring. Deepak Hooda (16 off 14) played a small cameo before getting out to Naseem Shah. But, the King, who was batting well at the other end, got through his 32nd T20I fifty as he went past Rohit Sharma for scoring most T20I fifties.
Despite the dive, Virat (60 off 44) fell short of his ground in the fourth delivery off the last over as he tried for a couple. In the last two deliveries, Ravi Bishnoi (8* off 2) was lucky enough to get two boundaries, thanks to fielding blunders from Fakhar Zaman at deep covers, allowing India to finish on 181/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
For Pakistan, Shadab was the best bowler picking a couple of wickets. The rest of the bowlers, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Muhammad Hasnain and Mohammad Nawaz picked a wicket each.
