That's a wrap to the proceedings of the first match of the Super 4 stage. Sri Lanka gets the valuable two points and can breathe easily now for the next couple of days. Super Saturday is done and dusted. Do join us tomorrow for the greatest rivalry round 2 to be played tomorrow between India and Pakistan from Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. Stay hooked to all the other cricketing action across the globe.

For now, this is Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my esteemed co-commentator Hitesh Peddurwar, alongside our scorer/analyst Raju Khariya. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodnight and CHEERS!
Rahmanullah Gurbaz(Player of the match): "I think we were short by 20-25 runs, I was trying to be positive and score runs and helped my team but in the last few overs things didn't go well. We have small T20 leagues in Afghanistan playing there that have helped us, Trott works with us very nicely, If we plan from now we can play very well in the world cup."
Dasun Shanaka, Sri Lanka Skipper: "Yes absolutely. It was the belief of the dressing room. We believe we can win in any situation. Yes, while chasing we can calculate and pace the innings according to the conditions. The bowlers bowled well in the last five overs as they executed the plans. Dilshan Madhushanka, Asitha, Theekshana, and Wanindu all contributed well. The key was to get partnerships and have consistent partnerships throughout the innings. We did that and we got the win. Our bowlers brought us back, and we aced the chase."
Mohammad Nabi (Afghanistan Captain): "Yeah we were 20- 25 runs short, we were poor in the field. It was a better pitch today than the last one when we played against  Bangladesh. It was good for batting but we were short by a few runs, and we didn't field well today we dropped easy catches."
Time for the post-match presentation ceremony.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa: "When I went to bat it was a matter of connecting the ball and hitting, we were cautious when spinners were bowling but all and all boys did very well. In IPL I batted at three but here they asked me to bat at number five I am enjoying the role, It was embarrassing as we lost the previous game with Afghanistan, we knew that boys have the talent in them and we proved it today"
Sri Lanka achieves their highest successful chase against Afghanistan and the highest chase in Sharjah. A terrific chase was planned by Sri Lanka as they paced their innings perfectly to win the game by 4 wickets with 5 balls to spare. Chamika Karunaratne finishes things off in style.

Chasing a stiff target of 176 for the win, Sri Lanka got off to a flying chase courtesy of their openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis as they scored 62 in 6.3 overs. Nissanka got 35 while Mendis got 36. Danushka Gunathilaka contributed with a valuable 33 off 20 balls. Dasun Shanaka got into double digits. It was Bhanuka Rajapaksa's 31 off 14 balls as he played the perfect role of the finisher to ace the chase. Wanindu Hasaranga remained unbeaten on 16 off 9 balls while Chamika Karunaratne scored 5 off 2 as he hit the winning runs to seal the deal and get the win for Sri Lanka.

It was a tough day at the office for the Afghan bowlers. A couple of wickets for Mujeeb ur Rahman (2-30), and Naveen ul Haq (2-40). Rashid Khan picked up a wicket as he was deposited for 39 runs. The skipper Mohammad Nabi got a wicket as well for his 34 runs. Fazalhaq Farooqi went wicketless in this innings. Afghanistan kept the extras down to 5.

It was Dasun Shanaka who won the toss and decided to bowl first on a typical Sharjah track. It was the Rahmanullah Gurbaz show from the get-go as his innings propelled Afghanistan to a competitive total. Zazai struggled today for his 13 off 16 balls in the opening partnership of 46 runs. Gurbaz was magnificent with his 84 off 45 balls as he top-scored in the innings. Ibrahim Zadran gave him good company and contributed 40 off 38 balls. Najibullah scored 17 off 10 balls alongside 11 extras allowing Afghanistan to get to 175-6 in their allocated 20 overs.

Couple of wickets for Dilshan Madhushanka. Maheesh Theekshana and Asitha Fernando picked up a wicket each. Wanindu Hasaranga went wicketless but kept things tight giving less than run-a-ball. Chamika Karunaratne and skipper Dasun Shanaka went the distance in their respective bowling efforts.  The Lankan bowlers were good in the last five overs of the innings. The Afghans could have gone up to 190, but it was not to be thanks to brilliant bowling by Sri Lanka. The Afghans were also shoddy in the field as some important catches were dropped.

So, a win for Sri Lanka by 4 wickets with 5 balls to spare to get the two points as Afghanistan let this game slip. Stay tuned as we will have the presentation for you soon.
