5th win for the South Africans in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League. They now have 59 points and are placed 11th in the table, led by England (125).

The South African skipper Temba Bavuma has mentioned previously that this series will be an important step to get some points and a preparation for the World cup, and by today's performance, the Proteas have made a mark to give the men in blue some serious competition.

So, India will try to make a comeback when they turn up in Ranchi for the second ODI. For now, it is me, Ninaad Dixit, who is signing off on behalf of my co-commentators, AkshayaKrishna Polya and Ovaise Shariff, bringing you all the live action from this mouth-watering fixture alongside our scorers/analysts Manish Bishnoi and Bishal Mandal. Until next time, it is a good night!
Heinrich Klaasen (Player of the Match): "No, not at all, the ball was moving quite a bit. When I came in, the ball was spinning as well. (On performing against India) Don't know why it's that way, I enjoy playing against India and hope it continues this way. Looking forward to the remaining game in this series."
Heinrich Klaasen is the Player of the Match!
Temba Bavuma | South Africa Captain: "Thank you. It got a bit tighter at the end. Obviously, Sanju getting us on the back foot. But, we held our nerves, in the end, to get the match in our favour.

It was a tricky wicket to start. We did bat patiently in the initial overs. Markram got a ripper. In the end, Miller and Klaasen batted exceedingly well to take us to a good total.

We bowled really well and had control of the match in the first 20 overs. KG and Parnell were brilliant upfront. It was a bit difficult to stop the flow of runs during the last few overs. But, yeah, happy with the effort."
Game Changer of the Match: David Miller
Trusted Player of the Match: Sanju Samson
Shikhar Dhawan | India Captain: "While chasing we didn't get a good start but the way Shreyas, Samson and Shardul played was fabulous. The score was a bit too much as the wicket offered some turn. We leaked few runs in the field. But they are young boys, its a good experience and learning for them."
The presentation comes here!
Keshav Maharaj: "Yeah, just thought of sticking to my lines and lengths. Didn't do anything much different. Shamsi has bowled well to hold the nerve in the last over. Definitely, I would take this pitch everywhere I go.

Yeah, Klaasen and Miller played well. Took the innings deep and finished off well. Yeah, we have to travel to Ranchi for the next one. Not much rest (chuckles). Shamsi knows the strategy and did well. I was just aiding with some inputs, nothing much. Bavuma is a great leader. He knows the game in and out. Yeah, thanks."
Not a favorable start for India in their first ODI in the home season as they go down by 9 runs against the Proteas. Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and decided to send the Proteas to bat first. The men in blue handed ODI debuts to Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravi Bishnoi and made a good start with the ball in hand with new ball bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Avesh Khan bowling tidy opening spells.

Shardul Thakur got India their first breakthrough sending Janneman Malan back and followed that by sending the skipper Temba Bavuma for another cheap score. Kuldeep Yadav followed it with a beautiful stock delivery which accounted for Aiden Markram's wicket for a duck.

Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller then stitched an unbeaten 139 run partnership scoring runs in every part of the stadium against all kinds of bowling to put South Africa at a good score of 249/4 at the end of the 40 overs.

India didn't get the best start as the men in blue lost both the openers for single figures. Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad also failed to chip in with a big score after cautious starts as India found themselves reeling at 51/4.

Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson then did the rebuilding job adding 67 runs for the fifth wicket but Iyer was sent back in the hut by Ngidi after completing his half century. Shardul Thakur then joined Sanju Samson who also brought up his second ODI half century and now averages 65.5 in the format.

The pair added 93 runs for the 6th wicket. Thakur played some excellent strokes getting 5 crucial boundaries and took the team closer to the total before he was dismissed by Lungi Ngidi with India wanting a further 39 runs off 15 balls.

Avesh Khan and Kuldeep Yadav were dismissed on consecutive balls and with 30 needed off the final six balls, Samson hit a six and a couple of 4s with a help of a wide delivery to get 15 off the first 3 balls but one dot ball was the final nail in the coffin as India lost a well fought game by nine runs.

STAY TUNED as we comeback with the post match coverage.

39.6 T Shamsi to S Samson
1 Single to end the match! Good length on the middle stump. Samson comes down the track and flicks it down to deep mid-wicket. Shamsi has been taken to the cleaners but to be honest, it was a bit too late. South Africa win by 9 runs!
39.5 T Shamsi to S Samson
4 FOURRR!! This has been drilled straight down the ground for a boundary. Fuller length on the off. Samson dances down the track and powers the drive past the bowler for a cracking boundary.
39.4 T Shamsi to S Samson
0 Fuller length on the middle stump. Samson sits low, and inside half's the slog sweep through the square leg. He doesn't run for a single.
15 off 3! Sanju is halfway there in this final over.
39.3 T Shamsi to S Samson
4 FOURRR!! Another four. Samson is getting the bat to do the talk here. Tosses it fuller around the off. Samson sits down on one knee and swings through the line. Up and over the non-striker's head for another boundary. One bounce and over the fence.
Can Sanju Samson do it? Hold onto your seats guys.. this game is heading to a brilliant finish.
FOUR MORE! 19 to win off 4! 18 will get a Super Over!
39.2 T Shamsi to S Samson
4 FOURRR!! Another half-tracker and gets the boundary. Short, on the leg stump. Samson gets the pull through the gap between deep mid-wicket and deep square leg fielders for a boundary. One bounce and over she goes.
