Post-Match Summary: What a cliffhanger of a game we all have witnessed today here at Stanley Park, Blackpool. Just a perfect example of how a do-or-die match should be. Wonderful performances from both sides.

It all gets started with team Lancashire winning the toss and deciding to bowl first. This surface looked batting-friendly right from the start of the match. Team Nottinghamshire came to bat and fully utilized this golden opportunity by posting a mammoth total of 338 runs on the board. Both their openers Ben Slater and Sol Budinger build a massive partnership of over 100 runs in the starting 10 overs. Slater scored a brilliant ton of 104 in just 122 deliveries, while Budinger scored 56 runs from 46 deliveries. After this strong start, Nots' middle order got faltered a bit as captain Hameed departs on a single-digit score of just 4 runs. Later on, Montgomery played the role of a pinch hitter in the end by scoring 78 runs in the slog overs.  Lancashire bowlers got too expensive earlier in the innings, but they controlled the scoring rate in the death overs nicely. Dany Lamb took 3 wickets.

After this, team Lancashire came to chase and they made this chase look like a routine affair for them. Luke Wells and skipper Jennings get them the aggressive start that they wanted and later the star batter in today’s game Steven Croft let his bat do the talking. He scored a mesmerizing 115 not out. In the end, Danny Lamb put the final nail in the coffin and led Lancashire to win this quarter-final game.

Lancashire won this game by 3 wickets and now they will play the semi-finals of the Royal London Cup 2022 next week.
