Chasing 189 for victory, the Boost Defenders
got off to a poor start as they lost their key player Eisakhel for a duck
followed by F Zakhil for 5. Skipper Shahidi and S Shinwari got together in the
middle and added 35 for the 3rd wicket. Zazai came in and supported
Shahidi well as they added 62 for the 4th wicket. Shahidi kept the
innings going as he scored 90 off 55 in a lone battle. None of the other
batters gave him the required support until A Rahman came in at no.7 and scored a quick 31off 13 balls but it was too late until then and they fell short by 6 runs to end with 182 for 6 in their 20.
The Tigers' bowling was impressive through the innings as they picked wickets at regular intervals. I Abdulrahimzai was the pick of the bowlers as he got 2-23 in his 4 overs and was ably supported by I Naveed got 2-35 in 4. S Ashraf got a wicket too and they collectively defended the score to restrict the Defenders and claim their 3rd SCL Trophy.
Batting 1st the SpeenGhar Tigers got off to an excellent start
as they raced to 61 in the powerplay. Tamim Surkhorodi gave a good start to the
Tigers with 21 off just 12 balls before he got dismissed. Skipper U Ghani and A
Mohammadi (29) got together in the middle and stitched an excellent partnership
of 87 runs inside 10 overs. Najib Zadran then joined his skipper and the duo
kept the momentum going until Ghani was dismissed in the 17th over for
69 off 53 balls. N Zadran (43 off 22) along with S Ashraf (13* off 10) added 39
in just over 3 overs as they ended with 188 for the loss of 4 wickets in the
Finale.
The Boost Defenders bowlers didn’t have much to
offer as they went all over the park in the Big Finale. F Haq Farooqi was the
pick of the bowlers with 1-28 in his 4. A Zia was economical but did not get
any wickets today. M Saleem got a wicket but was taken to the cleaners. Z-Ur-Rehman
picked up 2 for 45 in his 4 overs.
A fitting end to the League with a terrific match between the two top teams of the league. A Brilliant tournament organized here by ACB thoroughly entertained the crowd and the fans across the globe.
