So, that is it from this one-sided encounter at the Optus. The Scorchers are racing for the crown position with the Sixers. While the Hurricanes find their winning momentum getting fragmented.

This was Arijit Kundu and co-commentator Megh Mandalia with all the action. Manish Bishnoi was the scorer for the game. Stay tuned for all other happenings around our network. P.S: Do not forget to stick to the India vs New Zealand game where the visitors are asked to chase a hefty 350.
Aaron Hardie (Player of the Match): "Absolutely, happy to get the win. Batting higher up the order, that obviously works. I had been batting at 6 earlier, that's a very important number as well. I enjoy batting up the order. We have three games left. If we win all three games we know that we can get a home final. We're looking for it. Yeah, got Adelaide in the next game. Thanks!!"
Player of the Match: Aaron Hardie

5:16 PM IST | A comprehensive victory for the Scorchers and they climb up the table, leaving the Sydney Sixers behind. Aaron Hardie has been the star of the day with 90* of 60 balls at the Optus. They bounce back from the defeat in their latest game and pocket up some crucial points.

Winning the toss, Hobart Hurricanes won the toss and elected to bat first. They lost their first wicket in the second over itself. The top-order fled in no time and a 31 runs-stand followed between Tim David and Zak Crawley. A few more wickets fell, courtesy of some impressive bowling from the pacers. They were put short to 96-7 after 14.5 overs. Then Tom Andrews and Nathan Ellis added 44 runs together. This was the highest partnership for them and helped the side go past the 140 runs mark which looked improbable at one point in time. They could reach 146 runs at the end which the duo of Aaron Hardie and Josh Inglis proved to be below par.

Arriving for the chase, the Scorchers did lose a couple of wickets early and Riley Meredith was the one to draw the first blood. Paddy Dooley opened up the bowling with him and both of them had a wicket under their name. The crafty spinner compelled his skipper to go for a review in the fourth over which helped them get rid of Cameron Bancroft. Then came the pair of Hardie and Inglis who notched up a 100-plus runs stand to help the defending champions go over the line. They played the spinners and pacers watchfully in the beginning and switched gears with the situation. The home side didn't even need the Power Surge on this day as things were under their control halfway through the 2nd innings.

With 6 runs left for the chase, Inglis went back to the hut after nicking on the outside edge. It was the skipper Ashton Turner who came in, asked Hardie to smack the winnings runs and the latter didn't fail to deliver.

Stay tuned for the Player of the Match award and his say.

17.3 N Ellis to A Hardie
4 FOURRR! That will do it for the Scorchers. What a scintillating knock this has been from Aaron Hardie. Ellis for a yorker again but ends up bowling a low-full toss on the leg peg, Hardie rolls his wrists and flicks that past the backward square leg for a boundary. Perth Scorchers defeat the Hurricanes by 7 wickets with 15 balls to spare.
17.2 N Ellis to A Turner
1 Pitched up and slower at 107kph with a shade away from middle, Turner pushes that to covers for a single.
17.1 N Ellis to A Hardie
1 Yorker on the leg peg, Hardie stays deep at the crease and guides that to deep mid-wicket for a single. Just 5 needed now.
A six here would seal the deal for the Scorchers.

Oops and anticlimax!!
And that will see a half-century for Josh Inglis. He's been such a delight to watch this season.
16.5 R Meredith to J Inglis
W EDGED AND GONE! Riley gets his revenge. Back of a length and darted into the middle stump line, Inglis makes room and again goes for an upper cut towards off-side but on this occasion, he gets a little feather on that as the Wade stationed behind the stumps makes no mistake. Inglis departs for 53(35).
10 runs needed to win now.
16.4 R Meredith to J Inglis
4 FOURRR! 50 up for Inglis. A tad fuller and in the middle, Inglis shuffles across and scoops that over short third man for another boundary. He is in some touch today.
