That brings an end to our coverage for this game. Do join us for more cricketing action all around the globe. It was Perth Scorchers' day today as they sneaked away with a victory that helped them climb the table to the top. For now, this is Tugral Azmi, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Akshay Bhide and scorer Manish Bishnoi. Tata. Bye Bye.
Jason Behrendorff | Player of the Match: "The length here is crucial. We get some swing here at the Gabba but hitting the top of the off stump is important. For me, it’s again about knowing my strengths. I just try to back my strength and pick wickets in the powerplay to restrict the opposition. I worked quite a bit on the other aspects but is disappointing to see Richo miss out. We know each other very well and that really helps."
Jason Behrendorff is named the Player of the Match.
05:08 PM IST | That's it. HARDIE FINISHES THE GAME IN HIS STYLE WITH A MAXIMUM💥. The Perth Scorchers grab their seventh win of the competition. They beat the Brisbane Heat by 8 wickets and jump to the top🔝spot in the points table. Credit goes to an excellent knock of Aaron Hardie and Josh Inglis.

Earlier in the game, Scorchers won the toss and invited Brisbane Heat to bat first. Brisbane Heat were off to a flying start. Skipper Usman Khawaja and Josh Brown came with all guns blazing. This duo glued a partnership of 32 runs off 23 balls for the first wicket.

Brown departed after scoring 18 runs off 13 balls. Marnus Labuschagne followed him after scoring 10 runs off 9 balls. Brisbane Heat lost 2 quick wickets and were put back under the pressure. Jimmy Peirson and Max Bryant steadied the sinking ship with a nice 62-run stand for the fifth wicket and helped the Heat post 155/6 in 20 overs with the help of 9 extras given by the fielding side. From a bowling point of view, Jason Behrendorff scalped 3 wickets, and Matthew Kelly scalped a couple of wickets for Scorchers.

While chasing a total of 156 runs, the Scorchers didn’t have the best of starts. They lost Cameron Bancroft on 6 and Stephen Eskinazi’s scratchy knock of 11 came to an end during the powerplay. Aaron Hardie played beautifully at the other end. Josh Inglis and Hardie led the recovery work for the Scorchers in the middle overs.

Both batters got to their fifties, they didn't allow the required run rate to pile as they were clearing the field easily. The duo put on an unbeaten 132-run stand off 78 balls and steered the Scorchers to the win in just 16.2 overs. Hardie remained unbeaten on 65* off 45 balls while Josh Inglis was with him on 67* off 35 balls as they reached the target with 22 balls left. 8 extras were given by the fielding side.

It was a competitive total to defend and the bowlers were always under pressure.  Xavier Bartlett and Matthew Kuhnemann extracted a wicket a piece each. The rest of the bowlers went wicketless and could not control the flow of the runs.

With this victory, the Visitors jump to the top position on the points table.
16.2 S Johnson to A Hardie
6 Aaron Hardie finishes things in style. This has been a comprehensive victory for the Scorchers. Johnson bends his back and bangs it short but Hardie was ready for it as he pummels the pull over the mid wicket fence for a biggie. A match-winning partnership between Hardie and Inglis as the Scorchers beat Heat by eight wickets.
16.1 S Johnson to A Hardie
0 Back of a length delivery outside off, Hardie punches it straight to point. Inglis wanted a quick run but is sent back by his partner. Labuschagne has a shy at the non-striker's end but misses. A direct hit and Inglis was gone.

Another punishing over for Brisbane Heat. Need 5 more runs in 24 balls

15.6 X Bartlett to J Inglis
4 FOUR!!! Poor delivery and gets the treatment it deserved. Bartlett bangs it short but errs in line as he bowls it down leg and Inglis swivels and pulls it fine for the third boundary of the over.
15.5 X Bartlett to A Hardie
1 Hardie stands tall and pulls the short delivery along the ground to deep mid wicket for a run.
15.4 X Bartlett to A Hardie
2 Short from Bartlett and Hardie pulls it towards deep mid wicket and a misfield from Labuschagne allows Hardie to get back for the second.
OH, DEAR! Poor piece of fielding in the deep by Marnus. Not something the Heat need right now.
15.3 X Bartlett to A Hardie
4 Back-to-back boundaries for Hardie. A length delivery on leg, Hardie swipes it into the leg side and beats deep mid wicket to his right to collect another boundary. That was hit very hard by Hardie and Labuschagne in the deep has no chance of stopping this one.
That is Aaron Hardie's third BIG BASH FIFTY!
15.2 X Bartlett to A Hardie
4 FOUR!!!! Aaron Hardie brings up his fifty with a boundary. His third fifty in BBL. Bartlett bangs it short and it sits up nicely for Hardie who hangs back and pulls it powerfully over mid wicket for a boundary. Raises his bat and acknowledges the applause from his teammates.
15.1 X Bartlett to J Inglis
1 Bartlett sprays it on the pads and Inglis flicks it to fine leg for a single.
