Milestone
That brings us to the end of the coverage of this fantastic encounter between Melbourne Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes. It was Melbourne Renegades day today as they sneaked away with a victory. Do join us for all the upcoming games from all around the globe. For now, it's me Hitesh Peddurwar signing off along with my co-commentator Ninaad Dixit and scorer/analyst Manish Bishnoi. Until then stay safe.. .
Sam Harper has been named as player of the match!!!
15:38 IST| Magnificent 🔥 innings by Sam Harper have helped Renegades to chase down the target in 18.1 overs.
While chasing a total of 163 runs, Renegades got off to a flying start. Martin Guptill came with all guns blazing. The duo of Martin Guptill and Marcus Harris glued a partnership of 39 runs for the first wicket. The renegades lost a couple of quick wickets in the middle overs.
Harper and Wells steered the sinking ship of Renegades. Harper played an anchor role, he was scoring at a brisk rate and didn't allow the required run rate to pile up.
Harper was breathing fire in the middle as he was hitting the boundaries with ease. The duo of Harper and Wells knitted a massive partnership of runs for 98 runs of which Wells had a contribution of just 15 runs. Harper departed after scoring 89 runs off just 48 balls. Wells remained unbeaten on 22.
Nathan Ellis was the pick of the bowlers for Hurricanes as he scalped one wicket and was economical too. He gave away just 17 runs in his 3.1-over spell.

Earlier in the game, Melbourne Renegades won the bat flip and decided to bowl first. Hobart Hurricanes got off to a steady start as they scored 49 runs in the 5.4 overs. But they kept on losing wickets in regular intervals.
At one stage they were 5 down for 105 runs. But a short cameo by Faheem Ashraf of 26 runs and a 16* runs cameo by Joel Paris helped Hurricanes to get to a total of 162 runs. Openers Ben McDermott and Caleb Jewell were the top scorers for the Hurricanes as each of them scored 28 runs.
Kane Richardson was the pick of the bowlers. He bowled an exceptional 4-over spell and gave away just 20 runs off it and scalped 2 wickets. Tom Rogers too scalped a couple of wickets but he was expensive.
18.1 N Ellis to J Wells
4 FOUR TO FINISH IT OFF!! Ellis comes in from over the wicket. Bowls full and outside off. Wells is pushing down the ground from the front foot. Beats the bowler and then mid off and mid on to the ropes! Six wicket win for the Renegades with 11 balls to spare! The Hurricanes find it difficult at the points table now.
Renegades need 3 runs off 12 balls.
