4:54 PM IST | Deepak: A short cameo 💥from Rashid Khan goes in vain as Melbourne Stars registered their second win 🙌of the season in a last-over thriller game. Melbourne Stars thumped the Adelaide Strikers by 8 wickets.

The Adelaide Strikers were unable to overcome a strong performance from the Melbourne Stars in their Big Bash League match, falling short by 8 runs. The Stars won the toss and chose to bat first, and they were led by a powerful inning from Marcus Stoinis, who scored 74 off 35 balls. The Stars posted a total of 186 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs. Wes Agar was the standout bowler for the Strikers, taking 3 wickets and giving up 27 runs in 4 overs, with Henry Thornton also chipping in with a couple of wickets.

The Strikers got off to a rocky start in their chase, losing Matthew Short in the first over with just 6 runs to his name. Henry Hunt and Chris Lynn then took charge, scoring at a rapid pace. However, their progress was halted when Lynn was dismissed for 21 runs off 12 balls. Adam Hose joined Hunt at the crease, and the pair put on a 74-run partnership for the third wicket before Hunt was dismissed for 49 runs off 40 balls.

The Strikers suffered a small collapse in the middle of their innings, with Liam Hatcher taking two wickets in the 17th over. Adam Hose and Rashid Khan remained until the end but were unable to seal the win for the Strikers. Hose scored 56 runs off 41 balls, while Khan smashed 24 runs off 14 balls. Hatcher was the standout bowler for the Stars, taking 2 wickets, while Trent Boult, Beau Webster, and Adam Zampa each contributed a wicket.

Overall, it was a closely contested match, with the Stars just edging out the victory. The strong batting performance from Stoinis and solid bowling from Hatcher and Boult proved to be the difference for the Stars. While the Strikers will be disappointed with the result, they will take heart from the performances of Hose and Khan, and will look to bounce back in their next match.
