Milestone
That brings an end to our coverage for this game. Do switch tabs as Melbourne Stars are taking on Perth Scorchers at the Perth Stadium. For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Tugral Azmi and scorer Manish Bishnoi. Bye Bye.
Daniel Sams is named the Player of the Match.
04:08 PM IST | Akshay: PHEW!!!! What a game we just witnessed. Brisbane Heat were done and dusted at one stage but Colin Munro tried hard and scored 98 and kept them alive in the chase. The game went down to the wire and Thunder held their nerves to win the game by 11 runs. The lack of contributions from the batters resulted in Heat falling short of the total. They continue to languish at the bottom of the points table.

Chasing 183 was always going to be a tough task. Dangerous Max Bryant was dismissed in the very first over on four. Matt Renshaw departed without troubling the scorers. Colin Munro held the fort from one end and led the fightback. He played some scintillating strokes but lacked support from the other end as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

There was no stopping Munro as he kept finding boundaries and brought up his fifty in just 27 balls. He was well-supported by James Bazley from the other end. Both kept the scoreboard ticking but Bazley’s fell on 29 in the 18th over. Munro tried hard and took the game to the last over. With 16 required from the last over, Munro holed out in the deep and fell agonizingly short of a well-deserved century by two runs. Eventually, the Heat fell short by 11 runs. Nathan McAndrew finished with four wickets. Daniel Sams also chipped in with a couple of scalps as they defended the total successfully.

Earlier, Brisbane Heat won the toss and opted to bowl first. They had a pretty good start as they didn’t allow the Thunder’s openers to get away. Hales was sent packing early in the innings and Matthew Gilkes and Rilee Rossouw took their time to settle in. Both put 57 between them before Rossouw fell on 39. Gilkes departed soon on 37 and they lost their way a bit.

Alex Ross played a good knock of 25 which helped them build a solid platform. Daniel Sams came out all guns blazing as he hit some lusty blows in the end to help his side finish with a flourish. He remained unbeaten on 36 off just 15 balls to power his side to 182/6 at the end of their 20 overs. James Bazley was the pick of the bowlers for Head as he finished with figures of 4/22 in his four overs.

W WICKET! In the air and taken by Gray. Short pitched delivery and wide of off. Kuhnemann plays away from his body and punches it hard aerially, away from the mid-off fielder who runs and grabs it safely. Sydney Thunder win the game by 11 runs and this is their second consecutive victory.
19.5 N McAndrew to M Kuhnemann
0 A tad fuller and wide of off. Kuhnemann looks to drive but misses it.

W WICKETTT!!! ANOTHER ONE BITES IN THE DUST!!! Slower bouncer again, on the middle and leg stump line. Neser tries to fetch that and hit that over the long-on fielder. Doesn't get the middle of the bat. The ball lobs in the air and Sangha from long-on runs forward settles under it and pouches it safely.
12 from 3 now.
19.3 N McAndrew to M Steketee
1 Slower bouncer on the middle stump line. Mark gets the inside edge onto the pads as the rolls it behind the stumps.

Munro falls agonizingly short of the century. He holes out in the deep on 98.
19.2 N McAndrew to C Munro
W WICKETT!!! In the air and has been taken by Daniel Sams. It would be a match-winning catch. Fuller delivery on the leg stump line by Nathan. Munro whips it aerially to the deep mid-wicket region. Sams at deep mid-wicket region who runs to his right settles under it and puts a dive in the last second to grab it safely.
The umpires are not happy with the condition of the ball and they are changing it.
13 from 5 now.
